It used to be I would not even consider an MMO unless it had a decent PvP endgame because that is what I liked to play. However, time marched on and now I like sitting on my couch and Neverwinter has caught my eye. Because, let's face it, Neverwinter's endgame is terrible. Unless, that is, you've been playing for a very long time.
I'm not a fan of brackets. I played a game back in the day called DAoC. They bracketed and capped their gear into battlegrounds. And they were actually a lot of fun. However, only two became really popular (Thid/Molvik) and the rest were dead empty. So, it became popular to simply level to those BG levels and stay there. And, as people here have mentioned, it diluted the already thin PvP fan base.
I think Guild Wars actually has the right idea. Simply normalizing PvP stats and/or gear. Everyone goes in at the same "level" as far as that goes. The advantage your "real" level has over someone that goes in at, say, level 40 versus your level 70, is the skills you have acquired. Perhaps boons do not carry since they get a little cray cray.
At any rate, my other inquiry goes into just how much effort are the Devs going to put into the PvP end game as far as redesign and making it fun for "all " players and not just people who have been here forever but also for mixing it up a bit? New maps. New BGs and/or strategies if you will. For example, I'm already tired of Domination (getting one shot doesn't help so I quit going). Is anything planned? I've queued for the other PvP matches but so far, only Domination has popped. Do i have to do it a certain way?
I really like Neverwinter PvE. Enough that I've spent money on VIP and a mount. But as for it holding me years without a good PvP end game as games have in the past? Eh. Remains to be seen I guess. But I'd love to know if Devs have even said "We're looking into it"?
