Relic Armor/Weapons.....Eh?

morentharmorenthar Member Posts: 2,500 Arc User
I'm pretty sure the consensus opinion is forget about the relic weapons. I know, some of you ground it out, but let's be real, that grind is a bunch of stinky balls. We all knew this.

My real question is about the armor. I see the stats, I get it. Realistically, am I going to be that bad off just keeping Elemental Dragonflight?

Now, I'm willing to work for the Vivified if it's not as ridiculous as the weapons. However, considering I'm already pretty high on PvE IL, should I just wait until the next PvE armor set?

I havent been playing as much in the last month and realized how the grind got worse to upgrade weapons, after having all components (outside the grind) to restore them. So I sold the components.

Again, should I just say to heck with the armor as well?

I've given up on the weapon grind for so many reasons, mine are currently at purple. Now I am just grinding armor. So far I have the scale and boots, and I find it is worth it.

If you bother to keep them empowered, they have even better stats than you see on the Collections page.

If you are perfectionist and aim for max crit, max power and etc, you better get the relic gear. Depending on the class you can't have the stats from another source. For example, there's no power + crit helmet for GFs in the game, only Shieldbearer's Raid Helm, so I'm hunting for this as I am a GF. I gave some comparison in another topic between Masterwork gear and Vivified Tier 3 relic gear and the difference was abysmal for those who aim for the best. It was like 800 more crit from a helmet, and that means 2% crit. If you take 4 items into consideration, we are talking about 8% crit and that's a lot of dps.

I think if the relic gear were intended to last through several modules, there'd be more than just the Everfrost, Relic collection, and Giants related bonuses. Something more universal would warrant "staying power." If you look at companions for Mod 11, you'll note they give specific bonuses versus specific creatures. It's whether to grind for them and maintain them versus the amount of time before their replacement arrives. How much easier will the next iteration be to obtain and how long will that option last? Only the devs know. If you look at how weapons and companions are being presented in the next mod, it's likely a window into the future.

The armor is certainly BIS for the near future, even if the bonuses don't translate into Mod 11. Those creatures, er companions, won't translate into Mod 12, I reckin'. But I take your meaning. Quick obsolescense.

You won't be 1st or 2nd in paingiver without relic weapons if you run with good players. If you don't care about that use Twisted Set. Anyway, you can wait for the new weapons, the base damage is very good. Twisted is old and HAMSTER now.

    To answer the OP...

Relic WEAPONS are practically mandatory for any DPS player. If you're patient, you can get the offbrand versions from Mod11, which have worse set bonuses, but the same damage (and are much easier to upgrade).

Relic Armor... eh. Whatever has the stats you need, you pick up.

I don't think you can make blanket statements about BiS weapon and armor for all classes and subclasses. I suspect the RoI of relic grinding varies.
A Protector may be better off sticking with twisted for now while a Thaumaturge must grind the relics to compete (hypothetical).

If you want power and crit then Relic gear is best, or 3 relic pieces+Nsva chest. Combination of Esva Head+Ndemo Hands+egwd Shirt should give u plenty of power if thats what you are after and if u add Dusk chest and boots you should be fine without relic gear but i think none of those pieces have crit. Might work for your sabo build tho, i guess, or you can get Relic boots+chest and Esva head+Ndemo hands. Pick what suits you best.
Mod11 weapons should be good enough.

If you are talking about a dps toon, then, yes, Relic Weapon is better than twisted no matter what build you run. Damage is based on weapon damage, that's self explanatory
