Pretty Healer

maatmonsmaatmons Member Posts: 58 Arc User
So, I came back after being away for… I'm not even sure how long. On my new character, I went to get my free companion, but Cleric Disciple is no longer an option. The replacement option, Apprentice Healer, is some doofy-looking guy.

I want a cute girl to follow me around an heal me. (Don't judge me!) What are my options?

I see some Cleric Disciples for sale in the auction house. I don't have nearly that many astral diamonds though. So, I'd probably wind up charging $10 worth of zen and trading for the astral diamonds.

If I'm going to be spending money anyway though, are there other companions I should consider? Attractive female ones?

Acolyte of Kelemvor, Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow, or Priestess of Sune look like they might work. But I can't find anything that explicitly says they heal. If I'm spending real money, I'd like to be sure. Are any of the female healer companions notable better or worse than others?

Oh, and to answer the question that's bound to come up, yes, I'm a 30-year-old virgin who lives in my parents' basement. Now can we get back to cataloging imaginary women?

    (Leechesleechesleechesleechesleechesleechesleechesleechesleeches!)

I can't make any reccomendations in the looks department, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But I can make reccomendations in the stats department.

Seahnine Moonbow is NOT a healer. She is a BUFFER. (Or, if you're running a SW with Tyrannical Curse, a team killer). She boosts the team's Crit chance.

Meh on Priestess of Sune. She's... alright... but she attacks slowly.

A good healer companion is the Acolyte of Kelemvor. In a weird twist, the Acolyte is a buff to your lifesteal rather than a cleric who uses an ability to refill your health, but the lifesteal boon is quite efffective.

If you really are going to be spending 10 bucks (worth about 500K AD at a 500:1 exchange on PC unless my math is wrong), I would personally just buy a companion with some Bonding Runestones, some comp gear, and stick some high quality Darks in the companion's defensive slots. The boost to your lifesteal via Bondings will, imo, save you more often than any healer companion.

Thanks for the reply. Say, another question: I notice that Priestess of Sune and Acolyte of Kelemvor are both listed as possible rewards associated with something called Challenge of the Gods. I also notice that the last time that event kicked off was almost a year ago. Do you think I should be optimistic about another Challenge of the Gods coming soon?

^^^ This untrue claim above absolved you of any wrongdoing. But why settle for some lame healer chick? The hottest girl in the entire game is a free comp you can get at lev15, and she's called the Dwarven Shieldmaiden. But you gotta level her up through spending ADs all the way to Legendary ranks. Her appearance doesn't get sexy until orange -- that's when the shield/armor comes off and the makeup gets really HAMSTER.

But keep it to yourself.... kinda an unwritten rule that this secret stays on the DL, or else everyone is gonna be running the Shieldmaiden and its gonna be lame to see her all over the place saying her special Legendary Rank dialogue "Hey Sailor, wanna party?" "Buy me something, baby... I'll be SOOO nice to you..."

Start grinding for ADs now, it's expensive to get comps to Orange.

    Hah!

I meant that I couldn't help you with selecting a "pretty" companion, since the looks department is up to you.

And btw, not sure if this is a glitch or not, but atm, you can have any one legendary companion in your active slots, but it will give you the legendary bonus regardless of what's summoned.

    Why not Lillend companion?

I have a picture here somewhere...

    * looks for a picture *

    here you go :

    Powers :
    Audio Drain :
Deals damage over time to target foe and heals allies near the target for 7% of their health over 5 seconds.
    Has a 7s cooldown.

Piercing Notes Foes hit by Audio Drain are weakened and take 20% more damage from Audio Drain.
Additionally, Audio Drain now heals for 10% more.

This power unlocks at companion rank 30.
Rejuvenating Chord Heals the summoner for 1.8% of Max Hit Points.
    Has a 2s cooldown.

She is kinda eh.. a snake but there is two pros. for getting her.

    1. She is hell of a cheaper on AH right now. That means you do not have to buy her for Zen and spend it on a companion.

    2. She is a good healer with 3 rings slot.

    3. Her hair is green. ( she is purple already so you only have to get her to legendary for bonus 15 % )

The problem with the Lillend (speaking from experience) is that she procs bondings slowly, but then again a lot of the healer companions are like that. Once you get past the (juvenile) desire to have a companion with 'bumps in all the right places' your companions utility will be far more relevant.

I got a lion .. aslan thingy and a con artist up to legendary. I like using them on a cleric. It makes my life easier heck of a lot.

Just go with the female healer chick you wanted originally. She's no doubt one of the best-looking female healer companions.

I believe this is intended. It's an active bonus that gets added at legendary rank. The active bonus gives the owner 15% of the summoned companion's stats, regardless of which companion is summoned. It doesn't stack though (more than one legendary active yields no additional benefit) and ideally you want your summoned bonding companion to be the legendary one (incremental stats for ranks 35-40, although it's kind of negligible compared to gear anyway).

FWIW, I agree that it's somewhat distasteful wanting to objectify pixels. But to each their own I suppose.

I haven't tested recently, but Lillend also has trouble proccing Protector's Camaraderie. Which is a bummer for DPS builds.

But otherwise a solid healer with ring slots, which you could throw sudden precision and brutality on.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think what I'm going to do is keep my fingers crossed for another Challenge of the Gods to come up soon. If it does, I'll try for Priestess of Sune and Acolyte of Kelemvor.

Honestly, I'm not finding that my current companion cramps my style as much as I thought he would.

When I typed that name, I still thought I was getting a cleric disciple. But ya know? I think it really suits him. “Grimdark the ginger emo and Sunshine the manic healer.” It has kind of a ring to it.

What's the world coming to when the internet and video games are no longer safe havens for blatant misogyny?

Not to entirely derail the conversation, but I would call that progress towards a better world.

And glad you found a healers that works well for ya :)

I WAS gonna post about how ridiculously expensive the Cleric Disciple was... but they must have started dropping from somewhere. The AH has them @ a greatly reduced price.

Yep... one of the bonuses of latest patch... some of the "Discontinued" companions are now back, dropping in various dungeons. I'm hoping to get my hands on Sgt Knox, but one of these Cleric Disciples would be so great to have on Xbox.

If/when they bring the sale back there is a way to have Celeste follow you around.
