A couple of suggestions for upgrading strongholds:
Give players an option for stronghold currency to upgrade structures. For example, a structure that requires dark gifts could be dark gifts OR voninblod. Then guilds with endgame players and newer players could all feel like they are contributing without having endgame players run older content as well as newer content. And newer players can still contribute currency from older content.
And something needs to be done about conqueror shards of power. With the Fight to the Finish quest daily from the Master of Coin for 10 shards and the Underdark campaign that gives 10 shards for completing 5 days of dailies, a player can only earn 60 shards every 5 days. When a structure requires, say, 7,500 shards (barracks to rank 5) it will take a guild of 100 active players 38.5 days to earn enough for the upgrade IF they don't PvP (as many guilds don't for various reasons). And that is all 100 players running the Underdark campaign every day.
By comparison, any structure that needs 100,000 influence for an upgrade (no examples, just a round number to make the math easier for me) would take the same 100 players in a guild 2.5 days to earn the required currency. This appears to be a huge imbalance.
I'm not saying some structure upgrades shouldn't take longer, but a 36-day difference seems large to me.
Just increasing the Underdark quest reward for 5 dailies to 20 shards of the conqueror cuts the number in half. It is still 19 days for the same 100 players running the daily quest, which could balance the tables.
Or, change the requirements from completing Fight to the Finish from "win a domination match" to "finish a domination match." That might interest more players in PvP even with the overmatched groups who destroy pug groups/lower level guilds who don't PvP. Personally, the PvP is not fun when you play for 20 minutes and earn nothing for it if you lose.
