Companions gift and companions

Ok so I recently got the chicken companion which I really like as its bonus is basically the same as bonding runestones at all times. However I was confused as the chicken comes with a lesser bonding stone, but using it I realized it can not proc companions gift at all. So my question is, is there a point to putting bonding stones on it or should I just use my bonding on my dread warrior and find something else to put on my chicken?
Second part is if I make one of the two legendary which one would be better the chicken gives a extra 10% to base Stat but my dread warrior in the long run with better stones might be better???
Any info would be appricate.

I use bonding on my augments, works well to boost my power in places where I don't want companion aggro. However, bonding on non augments can significantly boost your damage output. (ANY thing above lessers)

Why would you put bondins instead of empowered? empowered gives little bit less but are way cheaper than bondins.

Because I have lots of bondings laying around.. and when I got them they were dirt cheap
