getting reported

I was in Tiamat and this 4k item level guy says in chat "no one has 3000 item level" then says "Fail" and i said "your mom is fail" then he put Reported how do people get away with this? What happens when you get reported is what i want to know thanks

Well, he was expressing dissatisfaction at being in a low IL group (but didn't swear) whereas you gave him a personal insult. That meant you broke chat rules and he didn't.

As for the point about reporting; it's mostly automated and requires a number of people reporting but if Cryptic decide it's actionable you can get anything from a chat ban to an account suspension. In all probability only he reported it and nothing will flag with Customer Service but you should learn your lesson here: If you're going to offer a 'witty retort' to something you see as offensive (but not rule breaking) then try to do it intelligently and avoid swearing.
