Need a top level GWF to help answer a question! ☺

Im a GWF with an item level of 3.5k and im not doing as much damage as I should, without telling me to refine artifacts or upgrade runes as this is obvious to me. Im looking to see if my points are invested properly and am using the proper powers. I want to do as much damage as I possibley can below are links to images of my charactor. Thank you!

Uhm, Looks like your character is fine. However, its looks like you have not focused much on your companion and this is where most powerful GWF's get there power from.

Ill tell you why companions are so good, and how you can manipulate them.

So currently I have 1 Ring of brutality on myself which gives me 4k for 8 seconds every 30 seconds. Now if I put that ring on my companion with maxed out bondings (You recieve 285% of companion stats), And I had a Radiant inside of the ring. Not only would I get 4000*285% whenever the ring procs, but you'd get 700*285% for the radiant inside of the ring. This would total out to a 13395 power increase. So now imagine having one ring of brutality on your character and one on your companion. now I want you to imagine doing the same thing with the ring of precision (crit rings). Also the power from your bondings get a 285% increase as well. so if you have 3 maxxed bondings thats 700*3*285%. which is around 5900 power increase. if you combine everything from your companion alone using what I just said, you can reach almost 20k additional power. although, its not forever, it helps.

Also theres this thing on mounts called protectors camaraderie which does the following: Whenever your summoned Companion attacks, you gain 3% of your Power and Defense for 10 seconds. This effect can stack up to 4 times.

So with just one mount you can gain 12% of your companions power and defense. Wait, theres more. Now imagine 5 companions with this insignia bonus. thats 5 companions * 12% on each assuming they have 4 stacks. thats 60% of your companions power on top of what the bondings and rings are giving you.

Last but not least, guild boons and regular boons will help top it off. You should look to achieve around 10k arm pen in battle to chew away enemies damage resistance.also take every boon that suites your build. For me its usually power/crit unless those are not options.

So yeah simply, try maxing out your companion. Ik GWF's who are 2.8k and can out dps a broken 3.5k-4k. You are already in good standing with your character, so work on your comp it will improve your damage alot.

This is kind of rushed but if you have questions feel free to ask away.

That was more of an advanced answer then I expected lol. I think its clear where to invest my time and resources now, my companion and mount. I didnt know about protectors camradarie but ill definetly look into that. Im ok for boons as I have all except 3 from storm kings thunder and I belong to a level 20 guild. Thank you sooo much for your advice this has been very helpful. :)

Yeah no problem lol. I wondered the same for a while as well.

I messaged you about changes regarding protectors camaraderie. I forgot that there was a patch that diminishes some of its effectiveness. Its still good to have though.

There's also Protectors Friendship which basically does the same, and since they are two different powers, both will work at 100% effectiveness for the first mount you have. after the first mount the effectiveness is diminished for other mounts containing the same insignia bonus.

I'm not a top level GWF player but i see that your lack of crit chance could be a big problem for you.
You're 3.5k and have just under 11k crit, that's not good and way more Arpen then what is needed, again not good.
My GWF is sitting at over 10k crit and I can even do Edemo on him yet

seconded, check the lia knowles build, you are not running the best encounters. need more crit and less armor pen and put you best stuff on companion and review mounts. Oh, and disclaimer, I am not a top level GWF but I know a few that I am trying to grow up to be just like :)

Armor pen increases your RI (Resistance Ignored) stat, which if you scroll down on your stats screen you will see as a separate number.

The way RI works is; your enemy has a DR (Damage Reduction) stat which negates a percentage of the damage you deal. Your RI stat reduces the effectiveness of their DR. When your RI is higher than their DR then you deal full damage and any further points placed here will not help you.

The highest DR stat held by enemies is 60%. That's for the likes of Tiamat, whereas many other npc enemies have a much lower stat. So you will want to get your RI to just over -60% then stop.

How much armor pen it takes to get your RI to -60% will depend party on how many points you have in Constitution and whether you have chosen any RI increasing boons. As others have said, yours is over the threshold and you should check your RI stat and work out how many points you need to reduce it by. Roughly 100 points = 1% RI.

As someone else pointed out, your companion is undergeared. You will want high ranked bonding stones and double slotted high ranked gear with high level enchantments. Don't forget that Steely Defence increases your power by 20% of your defence. so don't ignore defence slots as viable options. Your companion gear should focus entirely on Power and Crit, with Defence or Lifesteal in defensive slots (as needed). Your goal is when you combine all companion procs, boons etc that you achieve 100% crit chance.

As Reefriednunt suggested, you should read Lia Knowles guide. You can find it Link removed I'm saying this because I see a number of differences in feat choices with your build.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Hey Wayne. I looked closely at your build, and you are missing one of the key components to doing massive damage. And that is the "Focused Destroyer" feat, 5th column on the Destroyer path. Initially, your "Destroyer" ability can only proc when you hit 3 or more enemies with a single swing. Having this feat will make it where you only have to be hitting one enemy. Since Destroyer class feature gives you 12% more damage, stacking 3 times - 36% more damage all together by having the max stacks of it, you will definitely want this feat! I believe this is where a huge chunk of your damage is missing. Your companions yes, that will change a little - but with the power you are rocking, I believe this was the underlying cause. If you have any questions feel free to message me, my character name and Gamertag are below.
