Incentivizing The Foundry

I have no illusion of saying anything that has not already been said before, but I've been thinking about this for a while and I'd just like to say my piece.

So, I was thinking about The Foundry and how it could be incentivized to create great content like we had in the beginning. It's probably already too late now for Neverwinter but if there ever was to be a Neverwinter 2, please hear me out.

First thing that got me thinking about this is your monetization. I imagined a Neverwinter 2 where players had to pay to both create and access foundry content, a game where people had to PAY to MAKE CONTENT for YOUR GAME. I know I'm whining about something that hasn't happened but based on your conduct so far this seemed to me like a highly likely situation. My thought is: Please, please do not do this. Let the players that create great content be rewarded. Not like Neverwinter with meaningless HAMSTER but in a real way. I know this next suggestion will make the hairs stand out at the back of your necks at the very thought, but maybe share some of the income from The Foundry with the creators? Say if you have limited and unlimited access models, let a percentage of that go to content creators. Even if it's a small percentage. No matter how disgusted you might be at the thought of giving someone else money. It's good for the long run.

As for Neverwinter 2... Yeah I can see it. I can see it being a great game. With updated graphics, true open world, a sleek, agile and impactful combat system. A continuation of every good thing in Neverwinter, and there are many. But most of all a game where you've learned from your mistakes. Where you don't monetize to an insane degree and drive away all players but a few remaining and loyal whales. What's the average playerbase now, about 3000? Not to be rude but that's a pathetic amount for an MMO. Even ten times that is a pathetic amount. A hundred times that is still small.

So I just wanted to take this opportunity to beg you, on my knees and elbows, even flat on my belly: If a Neverwinter 2 is ever made, please do not kill it for money. Please don't make it another p2w footnote. The feeling of Neverwinter first time I played it at launch was amazing to me. The mystery and exploration and lore. I was truly in love with this game, the first time ever I went out of my way to NOT strive for maximum efficiency in my playtime, but to enjoy everything the world had to offer me. It was the game I saw in Totalbiscuits video with the seemingly honest and caring developers with members of the greatest wow raiding guild backing him up. I do not love what it has become, and it makes me feel sick to rewatch that video now considering the decisions you have made.

So please, make decisions for keeping population. For earning the love of players. For the long term. And if you do, our cash will flow out of us like diarreah from the buffalo.
