DC Companion question

Would you guy suggest the Rust Monster or the Stalwart Golden Lion for the active bonuses?

I've got a polar bear cub and sellsword and looking to fill the other spots the best I can. Looking to snag the book imp if we get half off the zen store. So, that leaves 2 spots. The owlbear is a bit expensive and is getting nerfed I hear next update.

I am on xbox.

Depends on what you want to do. There are some interesting options on zen market, but I'd recommend the Erinyes of Belial which gives you a 10% crit severity so it impacts your heal potency (in comes in the SW pack that also gives you a greater bag of holding). Otherwise depends on your goals, if your goal is to heal then you want companions with crit severity buffs. If you goal is to mitigate then the Rust Monster is a good option but better for tanks since it relys on you getting hit to proc (you shouldn't be the tank unless your building a tank DC). You can get an owl/war dog for the reduced agro which can be helpful so you can spend less time dodging and more time concentrating on your rotation. Also check the build guides in the forums for ideas about companion composition.

I am going to be healing and/or buff/debuff. I will bounce around builds so I am looking for companions that will be useful in most situations.

you can't go wrong with crit sev companions because they help with heal potency and increase your personal dps. no companions give a defense debuff or a party buff as an active bonus (there are some that give debuffs like you mentioned the rust monster or the cockatrice). With so many mobs being cc immune you can't really count on a cc active bonus to give you dps bonus from prones etc. So I'd target crit sev pets, maybe consider some threat reduction pets so you can focus more on rotations than constant dodges (unless you go dps dc and then you get what you deserve in terms of threat, lol). There are some pets that increase outgoing heals directly but for me those are kind of short sighted when crit severity gives you more flexibility in your role.

I'm sure you know this but stat pets aren't worthwhile at end game. So using and active bonus for more power as example doesn't contribute much. ex. 400 extra power when you have 30k power isn't going to change your heal potency significantly.

Rust Monster has it attacks a bit slower than other fast pew-pew attacking ranger companions. Power-stacked DC may want more faster Power gain for himself from Protector Camaraderie insignia.

If u decided to play debuff/buffer the Rust Monster is good companion for active bonus(NO for summon companion)
For summon companion the BEST is Sellsword in legendary ofc he have the best debuff skill "Consumed by Battle: The final strike of Wicked Strike now shreds 10% of the target's defenses."
Now for Stalwart Golden Lion i would not recommend...
If u play (and) healer buy companions with crit sev, crit sev=more powerful healing.
