How do the "hunt" events work?

I just finished the Mushroom Hunt event. Only two of us did it and I collected the most. I got no rewards!!! This also happened to me with a different event where I collected more than anyone else. I do sometimes get something, like in the Catch a Spy event, but I never get anything when I come in first.

I have been playing this game less than a week so I guess there are some things I need to learn.

And what are the small and large mushrooms that show up in inventory with a timer on them? I can't figure out what to do with them before they disappear.

Another mushroom hunt. I came in second, still no reward. More mushrooms with timers. I saw a banner about the event and clicked it. It said to turn in the mushrooms to Herman, standing near Doomguide Soulhearth. I don't see any Herman.

I haven't done any mushroom hunts in a long time, but you just collected the shrooms in your inventory until the timer runs out. At least that is how it was done before. After the timer runs out, you should see a listing of how you did and what you won. If not, you can press X to see the ranking even while the timer is running.

You normally get some refinements for participating in Adventure Zone Events.

Other such events are; Spy Catcher, Fire Catcher, Devil Hunt, Spider Hunter, Relic Hunt, etc.. The most annoying (in my opinion) is Sharandar's Quick Death. For 15 minutes you have extra random enemies attacking you.

Hey there and welcome.

Just one other thing I would like to point out is that if you leave the zone for any reason and come back, it removes your standing.

So in effect, you have to stay in the zone for the entire time the event is running.

Oh, one other thing - the rewards are tuned to the value of enchantments from before refinement - when rank 5 was pretty goo and Rank 7 was considered high end.

That is to say, the awards aren't worth the time. You don't even get an achievement for doing one of those contests.
