PC - Campaign Progression freezes

I have tried repeatedly to get my Character Emerald@mallofin through the Old Sharandar quest to enter the New Sharandar zone but the game freezes right before the transition after the waterfall. I have more than ample ram, Intell I7 core processor, and a Nvidia GTX 965M graphics card.
All updates are done, running Windows 10. I even partied with another player which attempted to get me to New sharandar with no luck. How can I complete this quest in order to gain access to New Sharandar? each time get stuck I am returned to PE not New sharandar.
