Advice on best way to spend tradebars for a Protector Paladin

I have about 1100 bars and due to the sale this weekend I can buy an artifact or a companion. My question is what should I buy that would help a tank build. I have burning set for weapons and dusk for armor. Should I invest in an artifact, a companion (such as Shadow demon), or buy items to sell at auction to be able to buy something better with diamonds?

    I would buy the Blue Dragon artifact. That is a great artifact for support role character. So it works for both Tank and Healer roles for a pally.

    I just blew my stash on 2x99 rank 7 enchantments. Saving up for 2x RP come Thanksgiving.
