Because a mini giant space hamster REALLY sounds like something he would come up with. So long, and thanks for all the sunflower seeds!

    The mini giant space hamster comes from Minsc's character in the old PC Baldur's Gate games - Minsc was a completely delusional (but oodles of fun) Berserker ranger and Boo was his animal companion that rode around in his pocket. If I remember correctly he was Dynaheir's friend (you had to take both of them into your group). He was charged with protecting her.

    Oh and the Giant Space Hamsters were in Spelljammer.

    They do sound like a Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett kind of creature though now that I think about it.
