need advice on character build for a guardian fighter.

So I currently have 7869 power , 4182 crit and 4977 Armor penetration. I do not have a mount to boost up yet. My question is , what should i get 2000 power 2000 crit or the mount that give 1000 crit and 1000 armor pen?

I assume this is some kind of no-tanky GF?
  • defense is 7750 ,,, 2767 regen,,, 2178 deflect,, 109442 hp
  • If you group up often, and even if you don't I think its worth getting 2 pieces of dusk armour for the power boost. Other than that I really don't have a clue at the moment, my main toon is a GF too with similar kinds of stats and fighting solo is an absolute slog. lol. Into the fray encounter power helps a lot though with buffing/debuffing and even just running around a bit faster.

At first glance I'd say way too much regen and not enough defence. Make defence your first priority, not only for it's tankiness, but for the offence. Remember, ITF gives you the same % increase to match your DR. That's a big deal. It's also why I'd recommend a +2000 def mount rather than one with offensive stats. Then pump recovery so you can cast ITF more often, then most importantly, remember to cast it lots!

Thats just my opinion, I'm no expert. If you check the GF forum you'll see I have a thread of my own asking about offensive stat priority.
  • i bought a crit mount and retrained my character ,, i am pulling 5 mil more in skirmish now. my defense is kinda not tanky enough so i will reinforce my armor with defense and power

Are you going DPS or tank route with your GF. Like you I thought I could go one way or the other but after much research I learned that you can only really pick on route and design your character around that. Regardless of the way you go below are some stats that you should consider regardless if you go tank or DPS.

Armor Pen: Most enemies only require a 40% Armor Pen rate, if you tank only get it to 40% and after that you can focus on recovery. Areas requiring higher than 40%: Well of the Dragon, Icewind Dale, Epic Master Dungeons (2K IL) and Tiamat. DPS require 50% for all content and 60% for Tiamat.

Defense: As other have mentioned, for now, PS4 Into the Frey encounter damage bonus is based on the character damage resistance. Getting a higher damage resistance, higher defense, equals more damage out.

Recovery: This is more important for tanks than DPS but both benefit from a higher recovery, which translate into lower cool down for Into the Frey.

Critical Strike: This stat is for DPS and healers. Higher crits give you higher damage and healing. If you are a tank, critical strike is a stat that should not focus on with enchantment or gear.

Deflection: This stats works for both DPS and Tanks, it reduces the damage you receive by reflecting 50% of it, meaning if you get hit for 500 and reflection works, you get 250 instead. This is more important for tanks than DPS but should not be ignored by either role.

I just got my GF to end game and still trying to figure out how I want to play my GF. Right now I went down the protector path but may adjust it as I am considering going as a Tactician instead. Not sure. I played Conqueror for a bit but I do not have the gear to be a DPS so I went protector but not sure if I like it or not. Need to figure out how I am going to build up my GF and move forward with that design from gear, boons and enchantments.

Finally got up enough AD to get the companion for my GF, took a while with the recent AD inflation but I grabbed the epic Black Dragon Ioun Stone from the zen store with a 15% of voucher from a celestial bag (invoking). I had a bunch of experience books to bring it up to level 35 straight away, rushed training for 35k which while not necessary was cheap enough. I chucked 3 Empowered runestone rank 8s on it, 3 Alliance assault rings which all have radiant rank 7s on and my power jumped from 7700 to 10700 with room for improvement later on. So yeah, a 3k jump in power alone which aint half bad! Plus I got 360 more Armor pen and 1200 crit.
