[PC] Rubberbanding and lag

Massive lag in the EU (central europe, eastern europe) for the past few days and getting progressively worse. I know im not alone in this but would like to see how wide spread it is. So far I have confirmations from Germany, Greece, Bulgaria so its all over EU. Tried it both with and without eu proxy with no improvement either way.

Same here in France, i got lag/rubberbanding/disconnections these days. Yesterday was absolutly awful, as I wasn't able to move like 2 meters without being teleported, and with lots of ping. I don't have ANY kind of problem on the others onlines games i play and so far i'm not alone with this lag issue so I hope it's come from Neverwinter and I hope they'll solve it

I'm in the US and been dealing with it also. Seems like it has been worse the last 2 weeks or so than it had been previously.

Usually lag is in the package deal when you play a Cryptic game but indeed these past few days to a week it has been really bad for me. Last night I had the same experience @agilesto describes, I move my toons a few steps and they rubberband back so I ended it with a somewhat angry Alt/F4

Ye same here in the UK, had it about 8 days. Impossible to play at times, as it takes ages just loading inventory and journal.

Appreciate what you wrote @magenubbie but frankly I dont care. I feel entitled to lag free gameplay in any game I choose to play. If there is lag its the game's job to locate the problem and solve it. Im in procurement, chemicals, glass and other stuff. The job involves logistics and working with 50+ different people each day. When something is late or arrives damaged or whatever my superiors dont go talking to 50 different people, they ask me and I must have a solution. In the case of the game Cryptic is me and the players are the superiors. Period.

i am having frequent server not responding and rubberbanding. Anyone that does not have ping issue, could u kindly provide me the dns server u using? maybe it could help my ping. Thanks in advance.

Most lag problem have their roots (as magenubbie implied) in bad routing. Alas, that's nothing you (or Cryptic) can control entirely. What you can do to change the current routing is to use a proxy server. Usually the eu2 proxy Server worked very well, but it is down. I tried a few proxy servers with CyberGhost and although some really helped to reduce the overall lag (ping was reduced for me from ~300ms w/o proxy down to ~150ms with proxy), especially in the last few days there still were heavy lag peaks all the time. It is still possible that the reason for that is still bad routing, however, it is much more likely in that case that Cryptic has some server problems.

300+ ping normally? dam. I get 150 without proxy and through 1 annoying throttling Cogent hub atm.

No, 300+ms only in the last few weeks. But even at good times, I rarely get better pings that 220-250ms w/o proxy.
    That's why I loved using eu2 so much. ^^

Its bad and if PWE cant do sth about it then I guess its simply time for a break from the game. No point in engaging in exercise of frustration. Cogent is usually the culprit when a cryptic game starts having really serious issues and this time is no different. Still its PWE who is a customer of Cogent right. Shouldnt they have the right to request better service or something? Here is another question, I also play GW2 and other US based online games.. Do they all bypass Cogent? Ive never had issues with other games like I have with Cryptic/PWE.

I tried this from one of the computers at work..

No VPN/Tor or any of that sort here. Same goes for my home connection where I actually play. I'll run a trace tonight from home as well to see how it goes. But this whole thing started after their big server maintenance and has been getting gradually worse culminating last night with unplayable lag. I aint happy but on the other hand I have some books to finish up anyway.

Most of my ping seems to coming from a hop in london of all places.

Imho you are wrong. Its the hop from london to NA via seacable that is expected to take 70-80ms. The hop is just named london, maybe because its the seacable going to/coming from london.

We should just put in a support ticket about it so we can be told it's our ISP.

I actually did it, provided traces, full wireshark packet sniff, the in gmae network log, and even a video of how it disconnects me. I got "Servers are obviously working, it must be your ISP". Not happy.

My issue is since eu2 proxy died and the immediate network maintenance they did that week, I don't know through where it was routed to cryptic but while it added some ping, total 220+, it was more stable, less spikes, no disconnects. Now It's unplayable.

Because the problem is not persistent (If I wont be able to login at all for hours, I'll test it again), it takes significant time to test correctly, but from few traces while I had a connection problem via this one:

    8 64 ms 71 ms 63 ms 213.242.116.129 9 63 ms 63 ms 63 ms ae-1-60.edge5.Paris1.Level3.net [4.69.168.8] 10 65 ms 68 ms 64 ms ae-1-60.edge5.Paris1.Level3.net [4.69.168.8] 11 67 ms 72 ms 66 ms be3046.ccr21.par04.atlas.cogentco.com [130.117.14.93] 12 64 ms 64 ms 65 ms be12309.ccr42.par01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.39.65] 13 72 ms 72 ms 71 ms be12489.ccr42.lon13.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.57.69] 14 137 ms 135 ms 139 ms be2983.ccr22.bos01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.1.178] 15 135 ms 136 ms 136 ms te0-0-0-0.rcr11.b002133-1.bos01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.46.130] 16 135 ms 133 ms 136 ms 38.111.40.114 17 140 ms 132 ms 133 ms 198.49.243.253 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 133 ms 134 ms 136 ms xboxpatchserver.crypticstudios.com [208.95.185.41]

I could connect via this one:

    8 82 ms 81 ms 82 ms ae-117-3503.edge3.London1.Level3.net [4.69.166.138] 9 95 ms 96 ms 96 ms be3043.ccr22.lon01.atlas.cogentco.com [130.117.15.245] 10 98 ms 99 ms 96 ms be2869.ccr42.lon13.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.57.161] 11 149 ms 149 ms 153 ms be2983.ccr22.bos01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.1.178] 12 150 ms 150 ms 150 ms te0-0-0-0.rcr11.b002133-1.bos01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.46.130] 13 150 ms 150 ms 169 ms 38.111.40.114 14 149 ms 155 ms 149 ms 198.49.243.253 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 150 ms 150 ms 150 ms xboxpatchserver.crypticstudios.com [208.95.185.41]

(up to 7 it's inner country routing)
But tried only once for now, so it could be a coincidence or really an ISP issue (those two routes use different ISPs to the end point)

It's impossible to know what the issue is without someone logging and checking from cryptic side, I hoped someone will when opened the ticket, but it ended in blocked ports at my ISP (they are not).
Strangely the game log complains about empty packets sent back, perhaps fragmentation issue ?
From the packet sniff, looks like the login server connection is hashed but not using SSL/TLS. But I'm not sure, I don't want to delve into this, it's not my job.

And considering even posting at the forums have issues......

Recent reports of significant lag started right about the time the gateway was taken offline.

I suspect that botters moved out of the gateway and are using the game client, just as they did when Leadership was removed from the gateway.

Why this was moved ? It's not a technical support request! It's a complaint / feedback, or a general discussion to see how widespread the issue is.

Probably moved out of General cause its the most populated part of the forum ( meaning there are like 10 people looking at it lol ) and they dont want folks to see problems talked about :expressionless:
