Do Ring of ??? effects work on Augment companions?

I just post this in the Xbox One general discussion forum but then noticed how much more active the PC one is, so I thought I'd post it here too and maybe get a quicker answer.

I have a Goat companion and I just got a Ring of Rising Deflect +4. I was wondering, if i put the ring on the my companion, since it's an augment companion, will I get the bonus effect (the 'when hit by a foe you gain 115 Deflect for 4 seconds. This effect can stack a maximum of 10 times') from the ring? Or does the ring have to be equipped to me for it to work? Thanks for any help!

It won't work... Since you're Goat is an augment and doesn't actually attack. It does work with non augment companions that attack.

Edit: Oh, its when you're hit eh? Even then it won't work, since augments don't take hits.

Nope, doesn't work. If you use a combat companion, then yes, it does work, but the really important benefit comes when you have bonding runes.
