Feel my divine touch. (PC)

In this dungeon run I try to use divine touch as much as I can.
I must say I like the 8 second damage reduction boost you can practically keep it up since my cooldown is on 6.5 second at the moment.

    I've recently come to love Divine Touch. It allows me to really open up my OP. Between Divine Touch and Shielding Strike, I've been able to drop Binding Oath and the Defense Boon from my Guild Stronghold. I now run a lifesteal based OP (don't really need to lifesteal too much between Divine Touch and Shield Strike) to delve into my "dark paladin" role play. May not be BiS, but it is a lot more fun, and my DPS has improved significantly.

    how would you compare Divine Touch to Smite? Smite also has a damage reduction, but it is only 15% from enemies that are effected.

    i guess i should give Divine Touch a try in an actual dungeon. i have always been leery because the damage seems so poor on test dummies. might be really good in mob heavy runs?

    The damage reduction from smite only lasts 3 seconds; Divine Touch lasts 8 seconds base; with any recovery, it can easily overlap. Not sure how much damage it actually mitigates, however. I do know that my hit points rarely dip, and when they do, my AoEs quickly fill up health bar since I switched to the lifesteal boon rather than defense. I might give smite a try in lieu of Divine Touch and see what happens (might make the lifesteal mechanic more apparent, i.e. fun).

    So I tried out Smite instead of Divine Touch, but I preferred Divine Touch. DT seems to have a bigger AoE and the damage reduction from enemies is much more notable, however, Smite does pack a punch. I actually tried dropping Shield Strike while running DT tonite, and that seemed to work well so far. I suppose you could look at it this way: Smite+ Shield Strike or Divine Touch+Valorous Strike. I don't know if the stats actually back it up (I don't run any parsing programs), but it sure feels like the DT/VS combo ultimately results in faster kills (note that I am also using Radiant Strike as the other at-will, and Burning Guidance+Templar's Wrath as the other two Encounters.)

    I've tried using Divine Touch. Where it should matter (eg FBI during the climb phase) its damage is so bad that it ends up providing no benefit.

    The thing is that between Templar's, Shielding, and general DR buffs my Temp hp only move vs Orcus and in FBI. I'm not taking damage and the only defensive boon I run from SH is the HP one (we don't have the Lifesteal one, but frankly the 30k HP I get from the HP boon > than Lifesteal I don't need because my HP doesn't move).

    Why would I lower my DPS by using Valorous + DT vs Shielding + Smite?

    Valorous is half the base DPS of Shielding.
    DT is less than 1/4 the base DPS of Smite with a 5 target cap.
    That is a lot of lost damage and dead things don't do dps.

    I've just tried switching out Divine Touch and using Circle of Power in its place. I've never really used CoP before, but I've been impressed; for all intents and purposes, it seems like it has turned Shielding Strike into a mini-smite (dps wise) while providing me with additional damage to my other AoEs. Things are just really melting now.

    Keep in mind Circle of Power only affects you.

    Same with Divine Touch.... I mostly solo, so it really speeds things up for me.
