Iron vanguard vs swordmaster Gf

A friend and I both have gfs with about the same defence ruffly 80k procced But we have noticed my into the fray is weaker... I am a tac/sm and my friend is a vanguard/ protector... any one notice vanguard has a better into the fray or notice this? We can't figure out why.... we've both tried to trouble shooting it by us swapping in and out of teams and only using ITF no other powers or at wills. To take buffs/debuffs out of the equation. Any one have thoughts on this?
