I'm sure somebody has suggested this before, but I feel like the game could benefit from a so-called Discard Vendor. Another choice is that all items that we discard show up on the ground for as long as it takes for them to fade like other unwanted items during loot rolls.
From the discard vendor, all players would be able to buy back any last 10 items or stacks of items that they accidentally discarded. I'm bringing this up because it is too easy in this game to discard items you don't want to delete and too hard to get rid of items you don't want (Breyer's). Artifacts and enchantments require numerous stacks of refinement and surely many of us play late in the night after work or school, making it more likely that someone out there discards an item they didn't mean to, either due to sleepiness or wandering attention. Also, because yesterday I accidentally discarded a weapon enchantment and the PTSD is real.

First things first, contact support ASAP. They can help. Give all details, when you lost, how you lost it etc... Don't goto them for petty items though, they've only limited time for a pretty large player base.
I contacted the support right after it happened with some screenshots. Hopefully they will be able to help, but either way, this is a QoL issue that I feel deserves to be looked into. It would at least reduce the amount of inquiries that customer service gets and save other players from gut-punching, nerve-wrecking, almost heart-breaking realizations. (Insert a Darth Vader Nooooooo scene here.)
