Where is "insignia slot" on companion

Forgive the newbish question, but I have been googling this like crazy with no answers.

I want to put a bonding runestone on my companion to get companion's gift... however the description says it must go in the insignia slot... my companions don't have insignia slot. Does that mean if I put it in either the offense or defense slot the insignia ability will activate?

I would appreciate any help here.

But on bonding runes (for companions) is says insignia slot -" blah blah... Gives companions gift" then it has offense and defense slot info. If you happen to have a bonding stone can you read the first tag and please explain? It clearly shows insignia slot

I know mounts have insignia bonuses, but bonding rhinestones are made for companions only... Can someone confirm that I will get the insignia slot bonus if I put my bonding stone in the offense or defense slot
