Guild Drama?

I don't IF this is the best place to put this? But I'm sure the mods will move it if they deem fit;)

Since this game is about community and all that "jazz" lol! I thought it would be kinda "neat" IF we shared what's it like running a guild? No names please , let's show some respect OK? I will add my stuff later , so someone else go 1st.

    Running a guild is fun.
And, it's the best way that I know of to meet all the awesome people that play this game.

And what is your idea of "fun" exactly.

    I am ex-military.
So, my idea of fun is...different.
But, in MMOs I like to organize, help, and lead people to get the most out of the games.

So recently I started a guild a couple of day's ago, and I met some people that I thought were decent. And I believe on the 2nd day I promoted them to 2nd in command. Because they promised to be loyal and follow my order's etc... and as rule I usually do things my way but i am trying t grow as a person:) and they left in a drama huff, so to speak. And then i found out later , they didn't like the way I was running the guild? And but then they didn't say anything to that effect. And I really bent over backwards too. Another guy left also today, but at least he was polite about it. I was hoping to talk an work thing's out with my former 2nd command. But none to my avail:( Thanks. I am paraphrasing a lot this , but that's basically what happened today. Still kinda bummed out though.

My main problem is that I can't get all of the communicating, which is absolutely a must in a guild. Especially when your trying to get your stronghold built. So I might have to get rid of some "dead weight" soon? LOL! I forget I can edit my posts. Really didn't mean to comment on myself:P

When you first start a guild (or the equivalent in any MMO), there will be a ton of growing pains. Don't worry about quickly filling the roster.. put a post in the "guild recruiting" section.

As far as drama, yeah, we all have to handle it. I don't tolerate drama. At all. When drama starts, I warm up the "kick" button... and those who enjoy the guild and the others within, appreciate that.

These days its difficult to have loyal members in a guild. Its all about "run me's" and what you can do for them. Odds are you're very unlikely to have 90% of the roster you have now in a month or so. Guild jumpers are all over the place in mmo's nowadays. I believe the days of having smaller or medium sized guilds that stay together are well over.

It's expensive, for starters, both in time and AD cost (that guild bank can get mighty expensive to open up). It can be ripe for drama--but that's why it's specifically in the guild bylaws that we don't allow drama in open guild chat.

At this stage in the game's lifecycle, you're going to be judged by how fast you can get boon buildings up, how fast you can enrich your members...many not realizing that it takes a contribution from them just as much as it does from everyone else. Those that contribute and help the guild grow, you're going to want to have as officer material.

Oh, and make sure those guild bank controls are tight. I've seen too many guilds in my experience get robbed. I know that the purpose of a guild bank is to help others, but there are just too many that stand by Manycoins taking random guild invites and the first thing they look is what the guild bank has...and seconds later you see "So and so has left (your guild name here)." and the next thing you look through is your vault activity log.

Just left the one I was in, was a senior officer and loved the guild and its members but the leader is crazy/Has anger issues. Had to get out of there sadly.
