Active Companions

It looks like you get 3 "active" companions (potentially 5 if you buy extra with Zen?) but my question on this is - do you get the "Active Bonus" from each of the 3 you slot on the Active Companion's list, or only the Active Bonus from the currently summoned Companion?

It seems like going to 5 Active Companions would only be worth it if you could actually benefit from their Active Bonus when they aren't summoned. But I'd like some clarification from anyone who knows! Thanks.

You get companion four at level 30 and companion 5 at level 60. You get all active bonuses when the companion is there. I have two companions in the idle area. Depending upon the dungeon, solo content and lack of stats from gear, you pick which active companion would benefit you the most when the companion is not summon. For instance if my defense is low I would use a defensive companion that increase defensive types of stats. If I was a pally I would be using striker related companion for added damage.

Don't forget to train your companion to improve how effective they are for you and make sure you equip them with gear that provides stats boost and use the rune stones to increase their stats. If you are lucky you can get a rune stone that will provide you a % of your companion stats. That helps quite a bit, but it only applies to the summoned companion.

Be sure to read all companion bonuses completely. Some only activate when a companion is summoned so the bonus won't work if they're only in an active slot. The descriptions usually start with "When summoned", "When hit", etc. and check the other forums (PC, XB) for any complaints on companions. Some of the descriptions on XB1 were wrong and have been updated so I'm not sure if the PS4 descriptions are most recent ones.

On the long run companions are used to boost your role, not stats. Dont waste your ADs to upgrade a tank or heal companion, bc you like the fact, that it tanks/ heals or gives +HAMSTER stats.

So for active companions DDs go for flat +x% dmg companions, + CA dmg, +crit severity or +x%/ flat dmg if.. , depending on class and build.

There are companions, that give more/less thread, action points etc.

All of the above mentioned boni are better, then something like +100 defense and a shiny skin.
