Summoned companion

asterotgasterotg Member Posts: 1,742 Arc User
Hi there. Now that the reign of Zentharims and thiefs is broken I would like to know the opinion of other players concerning summoned companions.

Atm. I use the air archon for my DD, bc of the +5% dmg bonus and 3 offense slots. The patch notes claimed, that the acid stab of the WoD companion is fixed. This would result in a dmg buff for the party. Did anyone test it or similar companions. I would like to know your experience.

For my tank I consider buying the Bahamut pack. The companion has 3 defense slots and would boost his crit. chance by one of its active powers.

My first thought was, to go for a companion with 3 offense/ defense slots. Then I wanted to have as many ring slots, as possible. Now I think there might be some effects, like acid stab, that help me and my party more, than 5% more dmg and xxxx more power.
Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

I haven't had a chance to test the Repentant Dragon Cultist yet. I have it on two toons; hopefully, I can test it this evening.

You have two of them !!!!! I've been playing since November 2014 and still haven't had one single key drop in the WoD lairs to give me one.

But on the subject in hand, given the boost from the Bonding Runestone Fix (it was in no way a nerf, that may still happen though) do you really need to add extra power or damage ? Why not have a play with other options for a bit of variety ? My CW is currently running with an Epic Will O Wisp as his summoned companion. It has three ring slots, one defense and two offense slots and provides 25% Control Resist and 15% Control Bonus. He does a great job of tanking Orcus too :-)

I'm looking at getting an Epic Wayward Wizard for my HR. He has three offense slots and +300 Recovery but my main reason for giving him a try is that the cheap, 5 Gold base version attracts adds/mobs like bees to honey. I found this out while leveling up my SW. I didn't swap out the Wizard until around lvl 64-65 as it worked so well. If the Epic version is as good then it will be a real bonus as well as being quite entertaining :)

LOL. One on my CW and one on my GF. I think my ex-wife took a break from being the RNG that week ;)

I like the Wayward Wiz as well.

Short update. Thanks to the help of a guild member I was able to test the dragon cultist companion. His acid stab is a 5% dmg buff.

    BTW, I got 3 of them.^^

Well, that takes you off my Christmas Card List >:)

I will be taking an Epic Wayward Wizard for a spin this evening once he completes his training. Not looking to see him do lots of damage but hope he will pull lots of aggro from mobs.

Sadly, the Epic Wayward Wizard did not perform as well as i would have hoped so I will be reinstating my Zentharim Warlock as my HRs summoned companion for the time being. The Wizard seems to have lost some of his powers with the upgrade and spent most of his time hiding behind me. Still, worth a try. On a positive note, he does have a useful set of dice so should do well in the SCA Epic Dungeons. All he has to do now is snag me a Loyal Avenger Ring and all will be forgiven :)

The only reason people are eyeing companions with 3 ring slots is to abuse the 'Sudden' Underdark rings, which should in no way proc for companions, thus giving us even more inflated stats than we need.

I did hear before the Bonding change that the Battlerager wasn't very good at proccing, even with its ability to increase attack speed. Now that the change has come I guess it doesn't make much difference anymore.
