Am I the only one who uses a cat all the time (summoned)? I have 4 purple companions and they all die in 2-3 seconds of a fight now they are used for their active bonuses so i went and purchased a cat (mostly for cat's prowess). Pretty happy that I did he is so cute.

Yes the Merc is brilliant... just be warned though he comes as Blue, so to get the most out of the stats sent over via Companions Gift you need to spend 1.5mil AD to get him to Legendary, for the most stats. Also his Active is poo compared to some of the ones we get now.
This is a very common misconception. You do NOT need to get the companion you have summoned to legendary. You only need ONE of the FIVE active companions you run to be legendary in order to get the 15% bonus from whichever one you do summon.
So ideally, you want to upgrade a companion that will likely never leave your active roster to legendary, that way whichever ones you swap in and out for the other four only need to be EPIC. The15% stat bonus from the summoned companion is great, but you get that regardless of which one you summon, so long as any of the 5 you have active are legendary.
Personally my legendary companion is my Air Archon, because a flat 6% (I think its 6% at epic?) damage increase across the board, to all of my attacks, as soon as any enemy takes a single point of damage is one of the best active bonuses in the game. I doubt my air archon will leave my active roster any time soon, if ever, so having him allows me to swap in and out whatever I want in the other four slots and only get them to Epic to max out their active bonuses.
I hope this clears up some confusion for people here, if anyone reads it.

I know all the information you just gave but it is still good information. All I was stating that to get the most out of his stats, in fact any Companions stats, you would upgrade them to Legendary. As he starts of Rare this is 1.5mil AD to get to Legendary.
