Masterwork should not be guildbound

wildfiredewildfirede Member Posts: 886 Arc User
Topic says it all, i think masterwork professions should not be bound to being in a guild.
Actually this is the single 'exciting' thing that was added to professions for a year or more and the only thing that has some endgame value and it stays behind the 'be in a guild' wall.

Pure -> Transcendent Plague Fire weapon enchantment giving 80damge/20 seconds for 500k+ AD is a joke.

Well it is bound by so many things that most players even dont care about it.You need guild to start, you need insane amount guildmarks(20% success rate to craft mid level resource) or AD to get the middle mission requirements done, you need Forgehammer to do last mission(again 20% success rate without forgehammer) without spending 8-10 million or a year(if you craft every middle level resource)

Honestly, if you are not in 1 of those top end guilds, you probably cannot afford masterworks anyhow.

Yeah, unfortunately you're looking at a 5-10 million AD investment (assuming you already have a Forgehammer of Gond) to get one Masterwork profession completed.

The problem with Masterwork professions isn't necessarily tying them to guilds, but making them soul crushingly expensive.

It is more than expensive. It is the frustration level that has the biggest effect on soul crushing. Doing that even if it eventually successes, you feel that you really lose part of your soul. The expensive part actually helped me because if it is less expensive, I may attempt to try and I am pretty sure I will go insane.

Actually Zerg, it's not quite that bad. I think it might be as low as 3-5 million in some cases, though Tailoring for example is still around 6 million, and that's about as high as it goes. The market is slowly getting more competitive.

It's not so frustrating if you buy the finished materials off the AH, which is the economic route. You gather raw materials, sell them, and buy the finished products, rather than trying to craft them. In most cases, this will require a lot less gathering on your part.

It's not soul crushingly expensive, it's just soul crushing when the silly task that combined all those 35% chance results, fails.
I can pay the costs, and / or willing to farm the marks, gather the maps and can understand the rng at the nodes.
But having a chain of combination at 35% and failing those repeatedly does not make a good entertainment nor fun (and as a game, I expect some fun).
