Does healing get better at higher levels?

thecrowleythecrowley Member Posts: 51 Arc User
Hello,

I'm testing out a DC and I notice that my healing skills heal for what I can only describe as pathetic amounts. I mean the three charges of healing word heal for about 0.5% of my max hp per charge, it feels like a pointless waste of space and it seems like potions heal far, far better than I can ever dream of.

Is this the same at higher levels?

If your leveling as a healer you got a LONG up hill battle. Anyhow

Healing word is a terrible healing spell that is really designed for targeting ranged teammates. Bastion of Health is the real nuke healing spell which you get at lvl 35

Another point to consider is that DCs have Righteousness. Look at the top of your powers tab for a description but effectively your party benefits from 70% more heals than you do. So something that is not idea for self heals can be potent for team heals.

Heals will improve as you level and unlock new feats and powers

I assume your level is too low to be effective. You need those paragon feats to boost your healing amount and they are damm good. I can heal everyone including me from 1% to full even though im righteous with one empowered BoH. Level to 70 first asap, then you can play happily with your big healing number.

Indeed, HW is not the best heal power to be used as a benchmark.

That's good to know, how does cleric healing compare to oathbound paladin?

OP can out heal dc at end game; however, end game dc usually takes on more buff/debuff responsibilities and is much better than OP in that role

The peoblem with the original question is that at higher levels (I am 3.5K myself) healing is not really needed.
    Hoping for improvements...

He's referring to levels (i.e. 0-60) not ilvls based on his description of using healing word.

Nothing wrong with healers at end game, they feel a niche with pugs and low ilvl groups but yes with high-ilvl groups you don't need dedicated healers.

So for instance a healing specced OP or DC would not be very useful or wanted then? I've heard healing DC's can do respectable damage?

Pure healers are not in demand for high ilvl dungeon parties. They are in demand in low ilvl dungeon parties or in PVP.

Pure healers will almost always be last on the paingiver chart for any group content. That's not to say they can't do some damage. In solo play dc's will use more damage spells which they do not use in party play. Also a pure healer has almost 0 need for armor pen in party play which severely hampers their damage potential. When in solo play I recommend even healer dcs take the time to slot 40% damage resistance ignored. It can be done by swapping out gear, guild boons, or mount insignia's. No matter how you do it, you will find having 40% damage resistance ignored very helpful in solo play. Also getting a good active companion can help with damage. If you can't kill take a companion that can, lol
