Server Down?

I was playing just fine when suddenly i was being hit with massive lag spikes. I thought it was my connection, so I logged out and checked. everything was fine my side, so I tried logging in again, now all I see is the message on the launcher "Unable to authentcate, server timed out". What is going on?
