"Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate" problem

I'm trying to install the game, and I keep getting this error. A small window with the title "Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate" that states "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting 1,2,3,4,5 times." After that a pop up window states "Connection problem - Unable to establish connection to Patch Server."

I've tried googling the problem, and most of the results say it has to do with the servers being down for maintenance, or suffering a DDoS attack. Or some Internet connection problem. However none of these is the case now AFAIK, so am confused.

Have tried reinstalling the game, disabling antivirus/firewall, and restarting my router. Nothing has worked. All my other games are working without any problems, so whatever the issue is, it has to do with this game.

Any help would be appreciated.

Am having the same issue and nothing I have found online to fix the issue helps, cannot even ping the update server. Is this and IP address issue?

Check your firewall.

Turned off the firewall didn't make a difference, played for an entire day with it on and then had the connection error out of the blue the next day
