Make Zen Store Companions account-wide

xenotorchxenotorch Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 196 Arc User
I think it's about time that this option was visited again. Mounts bought from the Zen Store are account-wide and this is a great benefit from a value point-of-view. And for an altaholic (c'mon, raise your hands and admit it, we're all friends here...)

I feel the same could be true of Zen Store companions (keep T-Store ones character bound) and would increase the value of them as well as potentially sales. I have bought 2 Zen Stores companions since Beta, that number would have been more had they been account-wide.

Worth looking at? I think so. Time to add value to the stores, not take it away.

My first companion, the Sylph, was account-wide. It came with Knight of the Feywild pack. So was that mount. The next mount I bought was also account-wide. I couldn't get my head around the fact that most companions weren't!

Well, they could add more class packs to the ZEN shop and make the companion in those account-wide too.

But i doubt, that they will change every companion in the ZEN shop to an account-wide unlock...

Available companions in recent packs do their job well.

    1. Squire from Paladin pack is decent semi tank/healer with HoT and debuff abilities. At start you get bonus 4% to incoming healing.
    2. Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow from Bahamut pack is good buff/debuff
    3. Erinyes of Belia from Scourge Warlock, 5% critical severity at start with ability to upgrade to 10%.

1,2 are worth as summoned ones, only problem with them they tend to be close combat, high cooldown and they are not reliable to exploit Bonding Stones glitch (only 2 gifts, rarely 3).

I also have 2 account wide green companions (Renegade Illusionist and Storm Rider). Recently i got another account-wide blue Blade companion (3% critical severity at start). So if i was up to roll another alts, it would be a list of companions to choose between.

I don't have Sylph and Panther, but apparently Sylph is good for Bonding. Panther is beautiful companion, but its active bonus works only for certain classes and play style.

The companions from class packs are rare, and if you want to upgrade them... 500k AD per companion.
You can buy a better epic companion from the AH with that much AD, with room for bonding stones and loyal companion equipment too.

And if you try to upgrade them with companion tokens... here is how much you will pay for it:

you get 2 tokens per 1 pack, forget about the 30 tokens drop, i have never seen one happen in a lot of packs i opened.
you need 90 tokens, you would need 45 packs per companion, at around 32k AD per pack, you're looking at a solid 1440k AD.

To make a long story short, companion upgrade costs is still a major problem in game.
And we really need some actual improvement in the companion department.

They'd sell a lot more of them if they did.

Class pack companions are generally blue quality to begin with.

And it isn't in a class pack.

That's why he said 500k i.e. the cost to upgrade from rare to epic.

You must have terrible luck then. People in my guild think the drop rate is ~10%.
