IWD Boons: Avalanche vs Winter's Bounty

So I'm looking at these two from a protectection point of view and Winter's Bounty seems like the obvious choice. But has anyone tried out Avalanche? Depending on how often it procs, it seems like the extra damage could really add up.

Woah, not 1 person? How much AD does a boon respec cost? I may try it out once I get that far woth my IWD campaign but only if its fairly inexpensive to respec.

I took avalanche because I know I'm going to take damage. If you're curious if winters bounty would help you or not look at the number of kills you get in a dungeon type scenario. Is it often enough during the course of the content for it to matter to get that ap back? I know when I'm running with High DPS party I don't get kills generally- they wipe the floor with everything and I'm just a sponge for damage so- Avalanche was a logical choice for me.

For some reason i do get a lot of kills, usually i come in 2nd but it's generally within 10 kills of 1st. There are situations with super high DPS groups where i get a lot less.

Of course i also take a lot of hits/damage. This is part of the diffuculty i am having making the decision.

Does Avalanche proc for you fairly often?

I notice the ticks of avalanche go up pretty steadily. Seems to work fairly well- especially in boss fights that have aoe damage. ie- Fire at lostmauth or fire at ECC.
