5th Edition D&D and Neverwinter

OK, so we all know that, for the most part, this game sort of does its own thing when it comes to rules and mechanics and whatnot. However, I was wondering whether this game is (figuratively) closer to 4th or 5th Edition rules. I tried doing a few searches about this, but nobody really had a clear answer. Does anyone know?

The game came out before 5th edition did. So Neverwinter's mechanics are loosely based on 4th edition. The names of the classes, names and descriptions of the powers, the at-will/encounter/and daily system, all borrow heavily from it.

As the game has moved on recently, and with the release of 5th edition. There has been a concentrated effort to progress the lore and story to better match 5th edition. Making the game a bit of a mutt.

Basically, the game is its own version, inspired by 4th edition with its lore and story influenced by 5th edition.

That's more or less what I thought. Thanks for the help.
