Bound account lathander's artifact turn into bound to character after refined.

I got a lathander bounf to account last week, hoping to refine and use it in my alt toon, then after refining it to my surprise it was turned into bound to character. If that is supposed to be that way, then why making it account bound once dropped?. Disappointing, ridiculous and delusory if not treacherous, but thats your style to fool ur community; i guess i was expecting too much of it.

    That's normal.

When you try to refine any artifact the game gives you a warning message saying it will bind it to the toon.
Maybe you were too eager to start refining it and didn't read the warning ?

You should have first transferred it to the toon you wanted to use it for, then refine it.

    :(

Don't worry, you'll eventually pull one more out of the coffers.

    Cheers

The problem is, there is no warning saying it will bind. I had the same thing happening to me a few days ago.
When I was refining the artifact the idea that it would bind crossed my mind, but when I droped some rp on in and didn't get a warning message I though it was safe to refine, but no. Eye of Lathander binds to char when refining and no warning message!

I think it actually binds when you upgrade it beyond a certain level, not merely refine it. Perhaps that is what happened.

I've never had the message not come up

It would have to be a very low level, since I had a green one bound to character.

Not many people are in the same position as OP either. Most of us don't get BtA artifacts. There are only a few you can drop. And we all know how horrible that drop is. Many of us have been at it for over a year. Kinda sloppy the bind message doesn't show up on BtA artifacts but does -at least it used to- on BoE artifacts. Probably because it's already bound in some way. Again, sloppy. Should have been done when the artifact changed properties from BtC to BtA.

Someone move this to bug reports for fixing please. It may not be terribly important, but it should simply be clear that an item always BtC when you refine it. Older players know. But new players who are luckier than me will not and are prone to the same mistake OP made.
An Horrible mistake im paying now and feeling disappointed. I wanted that Bound to account Lathander to be account at legendary. Spent a lot of HAMSTER on it, now just useless there sitting in a bag. In my mind, thats the idea of an artifact being given as account wide; otherwise, why would someone give it to account if it will bind to character when refined?. I was thinking even on starting a new toon with that artifact, which isnt OP either to have on low levels; because its stats are not the best but decent, as well as its effect.

Why didn't you refine it on the alt, directly?
Move the refining stuff there and upgrade...

Because it seems the OP wanted a legendary artifact that could be traded around their characters, always and permanently. I feel this is a case of skewed expectations.

You got one??? LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still farming DR for one since... um... since forever!!!!

I wish I could sell you one--Unfortunately, I have a bunch that only will be used to bump up other union artifacts. If I could put it on the AH, you wouldn't need to farm it anymore

Question? Why is this artifact BtA when Lostmauth is BtE? Is it because it is a mini dungeon not a 'real' dungeon? Are there other artifacts that are drops (not lockbox artifacts, but dungeon/content drops) that are BtA?

Off the top of my head...

A moderately powerful (2k-2.5k, depending) character doesn't need all that long to blitz through one of those lairs solo. A couple of minutes, tops. So go in, blitz the boss, check for eye. No eye, no claim. Buy lair key, blitz another lair, hope for eye again. With no other sources for the eye, prices will stabilize around the point where the dedicated (let's call them "bots") can blitz DR lairs continuously until they get the eye and make a reasonable profit. Their only obstructions are the non-AD costs on the extra keys, and some bots have a *lot* of that stuff in reserve--and some of it gets replenished by the boss chest. Bots with lots of extra character slots may be able to just run a large number of characters through their free daily lair.

    It's simply *too* farmable.
