I had the lesser bonding stones and had my power swell to 41k from 14K. I refined them this morning. I am using personal rings and neck. When I was running around avoiding mobs, not the archon, I was receiving Gifts. So the archon does proc fast. I notice often how the bonding seem to stagger but love it when they fire off at the same time which fortunately occurs often when facing a boss.
I want to state my power could have been higher considering the rapid cool down while navigating to the stats.
Glad you have all tested it out, I was reluctant to spend all the AD required to get a Companion build up and running. But it was so worth it
I`m still levelling up other companions at the moment to level 35, I`ll give them a try soon.
Also just to note if you can pick up a Barbarian Ring (Companion only) from the 10/15 man HE in the HS it is really worth putting it on the Air Archon. Also you guys might want to try Fire Archon out, it also is very good. You can pick up a Merc Talisman (also from SH HE) which goes nicely into the Fire Archon.
Anyhoo will post some more findings when I have tested out some more Companions, unfortunately the game is forcing me to not be able to test some as the 500k AD needed to get each one to Purple is too much for me.

Long story short (all gear is rank 12): Cat gives you a total of 13,331 points Pro: always active, consistent Con: no Afro, no extra dmg, doesn't let you use aotp
Air archon gives you 11,976 pts on 1 proc, 22,318 on 2 procs, and 17,147 if u avg 1.5 procs over time Pro: air deals damage as well (3-4K), if u get 3 procs it spikes to 32,661 Con: dies easy, doesn't pull/hold Afro,
Yeti gives you 11,105 / 20,695 or 15,900 if u avg over time Pro: yeti draws mad Afro and deals some damage (about 1-2k), 3 procs = 30,285 Con: doesn't do much dmg, costs 2m to upgrade
So it depends on your style of play and what u prefer...I dig the yeti

That is amazing work nice one... don't forget to add in pro`s for the Companions is the fact they can also proc 4, 5 and 6 times for even more stats sent over
I`m also going to ask the game devs for more Afro`s in the game

Ok guys I have a new fav Companion for proccing.... I sold the Axe Beak I received in yesterdays box for 4.5mil which allowed me to upgrade a few Companions as well as purchase a Trans Feytouched
Anyhoo the Mercenary is just amazing, I upgraded him to Purple so far and just wow, he attacks extremely fast and I have 3 stacks up very very quickly... in fact without him dying I saw 4 stacks a couple of times.
Anyway give him a try out (he is from the Hierloom pack)... going to give him a proper run out today whilst levelling up some more Companions.
I want to upgrade 1 Companion to Orange for the 15% extra stats when it is in my active bar... I`m really struggling to decide what one I should take to Orange... its 1mil AD to upgrade 1 so I don't want to waste it.

The Merc is that good I upgraded him to Orange... amazing, he is faster and better than the Air Archon

@Radamanthys the Active bonus is +165 Power and Crit Strike... also Legendary Bonus of 15% of summoned pets ratings if he is the only Orange.
His base stats are 29819 HP, 667 Arm Pen, 667 Crit Strike and 667 Power.
I`m not saying he is by far the best Companion as I have not tested them all out yet... but this guy procs like beast and his attacks are very fast. The 2nd you start battle he teleports behind an enemy and gets to work... 3 procs very quick and if he dies you have good chances of getting 5 and 6 procs.

Here we go, I just did a quick 5 min clip of the start of Dread Legion... forgot what I am doing and just watch the Merc and the Companions Gift in the buff bar... A couple of points for a very short period I had 4 procs of Gift, unfortunately the Merc did not die at all through the clip which is unfortunate.

What do you mean "if he's the only orange "? Do legendary stack if u have more than 1?
No I was just mentioning it in case anyone was wondering, I only have 1 Orange Companion and as far as I am aware if you have more than one you only get the 15% of the Companions stats once.

So here's a thought...if he procs 3 times and can proc more after dying, does it make sense to make him legendary? Isn't it more beneficial if he dies a lot?
I'm running a blue merc on my paly and see 4 procs a lot...
I'm running legendary yeti on my ranger and wow he makes solo so much easier...his ability to hold the Afro of the main damage dealer and ability to Afro others means way less issues for me...I'm starting to consider 10 person HEs...

I don't really know, I think you do want him to die on occasion but probably not more than once in a 2min period due to the cool down on the bell. I`m finding he does a nice bit of damage as well as he attacks so many times.
I think there probably needs to be a balance to his survivability and deaths. I actually never tested him whilst he was Blue so I do not know how he would have been in T2's etc and the harder HE's.
I have given him 660 Life Steal and he can really keep himself alive as well
Main - Rydia (HR70) - Xbox One Player only Alts : Storm (SW70), Edge (TR70), AD Farm (CW70), Grunt (GF70), Rosa (DC70), AD AD AD (GWF70), Your Mum (OP70)
Yeah, the (Drow) Mercenary from what I've seen is better than the Yeti. I will have to cave-in and run it. Just not ready to get the kit from where it resides.
Everything depends on team comp./enemy strength etc.
For example, I use BD Ioun Stones on most of my classes (Might Stone on GF) and often run with people using their $$$ characters (you know the ones). Overall, they have higher starting stats than I do thanks to their $$$ gear and **** Stronghold boons, which again, need to be disabled in standard PvE.
But this doesn't matter in the slightest, in most cases outside of bosses, I've already torn through all the enemies, leaving them with 10% max health before the overgeared $$$ player has even begun to think about proc'ing CG.
In the other cases, I'm not using a class that couldn't out DPS them anyway so why would I care?
Maxed companions are essential for people who like to solo group content (some of it anyway) but this is completely pointless in the first place and only for bragging rights no-one actually pays attention to.
Not to mention unless you only have the 1-2 characters and exclusively work on them every day, you don't have the time or resources to be bothering with that in the first place.
The exception of course is the $$$ players and whatever. So you've got money, so do I and only one of us is a joke.
I don't know how you can tell 1 person is a $$$ player and another just put the time and effort into their character without actually asking them.

I don't know how you can tell 1 person is a $$$ player and another just put the time and effort into their character without actually asking them.
You could tell by the hours invested in the game. I came across many that have mythic and legendary everything and a third of my hours. More power to them.
I'll stick to farming RAD, doing ok with the 100K/day salvage and 36K/day allowance.

That's it though you still cannot tell really, they might have won some items in a Guild raffle... or had a lucky drop from a lockbox which sells for millions etc. Yes I understand that there are a lot of people who do spend money on the game (which I see as a good thing to keep content coming etc), but there are others who have just got lucky as well. Also people could have put all their AD into Zen when it was low and sold when it was high etc.
There are so many ways you can get good gear without actually having to spend a lot of cash. Plus if you look up in advance the best ways to refine things you can buy cheap Artefacts off the AH and use them as feeders to get Mythic.
I myself have 1500+ hrs and my account must be worth a fortune with all the stuff I have gathered over my time of playing... personally I have spent £5 in total which is amazing considering the length of time it has kept me playing... I do plan on actually putting a little more cash into the game at some point soon just purely in support of it.

It's important to keep perspective. Everyone plays the game for different reasons and there is no right way to play it.
The point of this thread was to get people talking about what they use and how...and what they'd like to use and why...which is what is was doing up to the point you open your mouth and puked up HAMSTER...no one gives a HAMSTER what people pay, how long they play, etc. we only care about how we can make our characters better and or more fun to play. Companions are just 1 aspect of that...
So I got the Heirloom pack this morn, but I did not get the bag. Don't know about the other things, just cared about the bag and Merc. I will give this companion a shot tonight. That is the plus side.
Something else went terribly wrong for me this morn but not at liberty to discuss with an active ARC ticket.
I need to update the top 5...merc is incredible as it procs 3 almost immediately at the start of the fight. Still torn with choosing between yeti and him...got both...the yeti really helps with Afro, but I'm running merc more and more full time...the extra dps is very noticeable
