Can you have Conqueror's shard from open pvp? Best way to gather Conqueror's shards?

We tried to do open pvp for gathering Conqueror's shard for Stronghold.
Noone get any. We had the quest from the Master of Coin. But we don't fulfill it.
Can you have Conqueror's shard from open pvp at all?

Probably we have to do GG or something to fasten Conqueror's shard gathering.

    I have obtained mine from siege and domination. None so far from GG or OWPvP.

    If you win the PvP HE in IWD you should complete the quest--there is no other context in which you can achieve "victory" there. If you win in Gauntlgrym you will complete the quest.

    Gauntlgrym does work, I've gotten shards from there and from the Domination maps. IWD *should* work, but I have not tried to claim based on it.

    It seems your first stronghold PvP of the day will also give you conqueror's shards. I had already done my Fight to the Finish via domination (and turned it in), then I did a SH pvp for the first time in a while, and it gave me 10 shards even though my team lost (badly).
