Bark Shield graphical issue?

Hello,
I am using a bark shield enchant on my armor but I am not seeing any textures on the floating bark shards that are closest to me... only ugly, completely black blobs. I've looked up screenshots online so I know what it SHOULD look like. Has anyone else seen this? Any idea how to fix it?
