Broader ignore system to help against spam

With a lot of spammers using # in their usernames it occurred to me that it would nice to have a blanket ignore but worse still I have discovered about 50% of the sales on the AH are from these spammers. I loath to give them attention let alone my precious AD.
These players could be banned, but they'd be back with something else recognisable, needing some other form of banning. It is the nature of spammers to adjust to new situations and take advantage of it. At the end of the day, the player (or keen GM) needs to be able to deny them their hope for profit by adjusting with them.
I can think of a few things that would also help with the AH but none are as important as being able to not give the spammers money accidentally.
