"Chase" items

zukn75zukn75 Member Posts: 364 Arc User
Everyone likes a new shiny toy, right? We all dislike grinding out for the same gear as ever other cookie cutter member of our class, yes?
Please give us rare and distinct items to chase. I'm not asking for a fricking shark with laser beams here. Appealing functional and distinct items with a variety of looks and functionality. Small but useful additions that increase variability and viability of different builds.

Set boons is good stuff, no idea why they remove them

You mean like the epic gear that drops at the end of all the DDs? Oh, wait... no, they removed that. You mean like the gear you get from professions that use special items that only drop in the epic DDs? oh.. no... that was removed too...

    Like +2k critic -1k defense rings?New companion items?Different dyes?New overload enchantments?

Set bonuses were limiting people's choices. You couldnt wear different pieces with old T2 gears and get the set bonus.Designing them were also probably pain in the HAMSTER(time and resource consuming) and there were big game-breaking problems with that bonuses so I can understand that they want to stay away from them.

If it's get unique drops or the sharks, I think you got a better chance with the sharks.
All gear is cookie-cutter now. Requires less development work, originality, and easier to modify and regulate (like elemental enhancements and nerfing).
The days of researching what dropped where and make the milestone to get it, gone for good. Zero thrill.
Now it's push blackdagger on some spikes for some seals to get the same helmet as everyone else's helmet.
Or kill some SH dragons to save up to get a helmet if you're in a guild that actually survived...and they got the same helmet too.

I asked for a 3piece artifact set that only drops from featured foundries.

    a) everyone would be playing something new

    b) chasing that artifact set.

What about making something like the armour reinforcement kits, where if you have multiple pieces on your armour will give it a set bonus.
Could have mini sets that give a bonus for 2 or 3 items that have the armour kit. And other more powerful set bonuses for having all 4 armour pieces with it on and another top end set bonus for having all 4 armour pieces plus accessories with the reinforcements. This allows you to chose what 'set bonus' you get on whatever armour/accessories you chose to use, meaning more customization options for all. We have helmet, arms, chest and boots, plus 2 rings, neck and belt that can all be reinforced, 8 items total.

    Tier 1 bonus (2 pieces)
    Tier 2 bonus (4 pieces)
    Tier 3 bonus (6 pieces)
    Tier 4 bonus (8 pieces)

Having multi tier bonuses like this would allow you to chose either a top tier 4 'bonus/boon' or chose multiple lower tier "bonus/boon", allowing to mix and match for more diversity.

Suggestion for these bonuses is to not go with the normal plain old stat bonus, but look at other things like the higher end boons like dread rings Rampaging Madness for a generic tier 4 set bonus that any class can use, and then class specific bonuses like something along the lines of say + X% damage boost to specific skills etc.

dont forget, tanks lost regenerate ability in combat and the shield coverage is too narrow, they get outflanked.

I regenate pretty good as a GF tank. Most OPs dont have problem with tanking. You will need Fighters Recovery as a daily for your tank GF.I can hold my team alive until the end boss without a DC in T2 dungeons.Things get dicey for my teammates on bossfights because GFs cant hog all the partys incoming damage to themselves

I love the set bonus armoire reinforcement idea Feny!

Player made, the more you have the bigger the bonus! Maybe have the rare craft items drop in dungeon nodes/chests/bosses. So crafters and adventures can receive some AD for making and selling the items.

Thanks, Different set bonuses can be made for each of the crafts, would bring a worthwhile item into weaponsmithing by giving that trade say damage based set bonuses, platesmithing could get the more defensive set bonus etc. With rare drops from higher end content being one of the reagents required for the stuff.

Some good ideas, I've always liked the idea of rare dropped components being used in tradeskills/professions.

One of the more highly sought after "chase" items in a lot of games are items with a clickable buff, I know I used to carry around a bag of clickies in EQ (Not that carrying a lot of clickies would be terribly appealing with the current inventory issues, but it's one line to investigate, and another pet peeve, bag space lol) Illusions and class specific buffs were always hot items as they were a) fun and saved a spell slot. (I'd advise against any multiplicative buffs(IE +10% stat, stick to straight numbers IE +100 stat) being used, that lies sharks with fricking laser beams)

I was also thinking about summonable pets from potion bar items, but that might be too much stepping on SW toes.

Some more campaign related companions that dropped in game wouldn't go amiss, and neither would mounts.

Augments/enchs that add duration or damage to specific at wills/dailes perhaps.

New colours for dyes, only obtainable in game.

    New fashion items/armour looks.

Weapons that deal additional damage to specific enemies (Though I guess that's covered by the SH wards)

C'mon guys get creative :) Remember desirable, functional or aesthetic and not a fricking shark with laser beams. ;)
