Moar HEs ? will we have some real content ?

Seems like there will be more dreaded HEs in mod8, will we get some real content, like dungeon we have to actually try to finish instead of checking if we can zerg it within 10 minutes to farm as many lackluster rewards we can to use in some other dull process, we havent gotten any good dungeons since launch, and any dungeons since mod2, lostmouth isnt a real dungeon, just a skirmish. and dont get me started on the failure that tiamat is or ill be put on terrorist watchlist.

many ppl are longing for a real dungeon like CN was at vanilla/mod1 where you get an hour of challenge and fun and good rewards if you are successful. i want to feel the result of getting better gear, instead of running a dull dungeon 586 times to upgrade one gem that will increase my damage by 0.003%, even queuing for kessels to get my daily skirmish ad makes me throw up in my mouth a bit

while HEs are nice, they are for casuals(smth many gamers consider offensive term, because by that developers usually mean easy content for bad players) where are the content for the backbone of the game, im really missing challenging content where i can just have fun and try for the sake of doing it and getting rewards to prove it, instead of just trying to get max effective and fast grind. the only way to find challenge in existing t2dungeons is to try to solo them.

with every mod this game gets more grindy, challenging parts are removed/outdated while nothing new is introduced

The vibe I got from one of the previous postings was that the biggest bad of the new content, Demogorgon, would be featured in a Tiamat-style "raid." I.e. another mega-HE.

I suppose we can be allowed to be hopeful, but given their track record, it's much better to keep expectations low. Very low.

yea im really afraid of that, i still dont have last boons of ToD because id rather quit neverwinter than do that wannabe raid, if the only endgame content is smth like that im off waiting for mod9 unless i find a better game by the time, just like i did on mods 3 and 5

HEs are real content. I enjoy doing them.
I only hate them when they are swarmed by zerg and cause a lagfest, but in normal condition I really enjoy them.
They're the type of stuff that began in Warhammer Online with Public Quests* and continued in RIFT with, well.. rifts.

    * (ironic that the only real contribution of that game to the genre was PvE even though they blabbered how much PvP, pardon RvR, focused they were all the time)

seem devs still hadnt learn from taimat HE events that still fails, and now they adding demon encounters (just read latest news), they will make zones very laggy, possiblity make game unplayable. too many timed events with IWD, DR, and Sharandar.
not everyone got boons done, ToD still got long way off, it will make Linu's favor useless since you can only get 1 for filling 1,500 pts and 1 favor if we win in Taimat. and we need over 200 favors???
i am sure adding new ecounters will make zones more fubared. it get very old extremely very fast and then another ghost towns.

Devs need to find better way to make this game more fun and more ways to get Linu's Favors lot faster. getting a favor once a week means that is no sense of progression, it becoming more like just log in once a day/once a week to get 1 single favor and that seem to take 3-4 years, and no one like that and no one stay for that long, since many had given up, declairing hopeless and torture-like grinds.

if i was lead designer, i would set 6th ToD's boon for 5 linu and 7th (last boon) for 10 linu instead of 200's, and if any leftover linu favors would go for special consumeables or trade in for keys or special marks if players need.

Demogorg had to be a raid zone for story reasons basically.

I mean, it's not like anyone has ever killed Demogorgon in a Dungeons and Dragons CRPG with 6 people or less. Certainly not in one of the most celebrated CRPG interpretations of Dungeons and Dragons of all time-or in the expansion pack thereof. That would be silly!

I remember watching one of Akro's livestreams before the release of Mod 4 when he had one of the female devs on the show and they were talking about HE's and how it was the future of NW as so many of the players had given overwhelmingly positive feedback about them. To this day I still cannot believe that to be the case. We have always called for more dungeons, which we are still waiting for with the advent of Mod 8.

hes are ok , if used correctly and limited in nature, they can provide some fun relief .

The problem here is they USE it everywhere all the time, when there is many reasons not to have them (all the new leveling zones.. all completely worthless time consuming items you simply do not do.

Instead of just providing a few dozen really big and fun ones with actual reason to run them .. they plop them all over the maps instead.. and they become mundane after awhile.

They clearly have coding issues handling Dungeon Delves. The queue system is one of the worst of all MMOs I played, campfires that still don't work properly all the time, exploits not yet fixed, poor balance in difficulty/time/reward ratio between dungeons of the same tier. I can see why they loathe that mess and prefer to go for something that causes far less troubles like Heroic Encounters and generally are more prone to work as intended (except the lag, but that can be fixed by reducing the amount of people present in any zone instance).

I'd wager they also require less development time to do than dungeons.

I also doubt we'll ever see all the old dungeons back. If you notice, some parts of them were recycled in Mod 6 lairs. For example, the final lair of Reclamation Rock is Lair of the Mad Dragon. In Fiery Pit there's the Fardelver and King's Crypt. Castle Never was a recycle already of lairs from Neverdeath Graveyard. (even before mod 6).
We'll most likely be seeing Dread Vault back (since it fits with the Underdark) in mod 8 and a few others of those further down the line. But I don't really have any high hopes for a sudden surge of new or old dungeons coming to Neverwinter.

All I dislike about HE's is how they're flippin' everywhere! They get in my way because they just love to make quest paths/trails go straight through the middle of them. I'm tired of having to run all the way around 15 different HE's to do my one dinky little quest. I actually liked the IWD zerg style because it's pretty much the only zone where anyone gives a single care about HE's (except in WoD--why the heck do we kill those dragons, again? Because we can?), although even then it's hit or miss on finding a horde. It gets boring, and there's too little reward beyond the reputation quest that requires it.

If they do not have the motivation and skill to be a D&D DM, they should not be on the development team. Full Stop.
If I were a player and they were the DM, I would be looking for someone else to be running the campaign.

this is something that i dont understand. They:

1 - create a system based in the number of players to adjust difficult and loot

    2 - call a professional writer

BUT instead to create some adventure single/multiplayer with beginning - middle - end (and "new game+") that can be expanded for each new module and EVEN BY PLAYERS,Through foundries, FOR FREE they will leave the action to boring and lagged heroic encounters, using the writer to do some dialogs in terribles quests of 1500 xp.

I hope to be wrong because this seems a great waste of potential and money.

note: i understand that thing take a lot of time to program, but... god.

I read on mmo.com and other site that Demogorgon will be a 10 player raid ( read 2 groups of 5 players queue).

They add a campaign, I hope they at least add a NEW dungeon ( read a dungeon which is not a recycled content, DV i'm watching you !)

I'd wager they also require less development time to do than dungeons.

of course they take less time. 3 cut and paste LARGE HE's in strongholds, aka orcs ( oooh this on drops a different companion item .1% of the time ) and 3 more where all the did was change the monster ( 2 giants, 2 devils, 2 beholders) at least 2 of these have decent rewards ( for those of us too lazy to work on jewelcrafting) . 3 cut and paste mediums with no real reward, and 2 cut and paste smalls. hell the foundry folks came up with better mindless killing fests but apparently if its foundry its no good so you only get a junk green item from it.

heck a single intern could have made the sh zone and it would have taken less than 4 months to develop.

IWD 3 he's recycled all over the map. save the merchants, destroy the auril totem, defeat the barbarian raiders. used in at least 3 differnt places each.

Guys...we can do dungeons, we can run HE's we can pick HAMSTER smelling flowers...all to challenge ourselves or to have some fun while playing right?

    But...

We need to feel rewarded. Hey if the run itself is cool and such you don't even need a reward, but it get's old fast.

I don't mind running Dragons in SH, it's a HE that's so hated here and there (I'm with you on this) but the reward is nice right? SH vouchers, fangs for the gear and seals.

We need to be rewarded by running this freaking dungeon for the 124317149782350101 time. At the moment the rewards for playing the game are pathetic to say the least.

Vouchers are terribly underwhelming to me. It seems to me that you're pretty much universally better off doing anything else to get those points. The campaign ones are primarily useful if you're still grinding that campaign (but even then most of those are bottlenecked by a single currency, with the rest piling up well beyond anything you will ever need). And for dragonflight by default you don't get fangs: you get a lockbox that has fangs in it. You have to shell out zen or AD to actually open the stupid things. You have to get a decently organized guild run together to have any hope of taking out the two dragons needed to not get ripped off with the wasted inventory space that are lockboxes.

Otherwise, yes, the rewards for actually playing the game are pathetic. All you do is run content to get the rad to slowly build up to buy something you need that you will almost never see drop. And then you have to refine it all...at which point you either go wallet warrior or blow your brains out.

All that effort they put into Heroic Encounters are totally wasted imo. I bet it's the content done the least in this game (other than in SH because Influence) and it's freaking everywhere in the new zones. I agree with they are more a hindrance than a boon when questing. The only time I acutally spent grinding HE's was when IWD launched to get my arms and MH. Great system they implemented and stuck with...

I am biting my tongue until I see what will be done.

My faith has been knocked a lot since mod 6 intro, so I'll hope for the best.
