Neverwinter Bounty System

It's painfully obvious that this game is lacking some things. One of the more important is a contract/bounty system for end game players. All the big boys do it, and while Neverwinter is fond of aping things from other games that it can't do well (see Tiamat without a raid system as well as rumors of the new Demogorgon fight) there are things it can do well but for some reason doesn't.

I propose a bounty board with bounties for various tasks with varying levels of difficulty. Rewards to be determined based on difficulty and time invested. Some would be easy such as clearing out the PE sewers of a new infestation of were-rats and killing their leader, to larger tasks such as a high level demi-lich that has taken over Biggrin's cave that should be done in a party with others. They can even be for things that are already in game such as simply running a specific DR lair successfully.

This is something that would take minimal effort to create as it would use mostly existing assets. It's also something that can give many of the rewards that players have been asking for such as Legacy gear that can be used for free transmutes, RAD, marks, wards etc with all rewards paid out by the Bounty Master on completion.

This would be a fresh, more rewarding way of doing dailies with new tasks to try on a daily basis. I sincerely urge the developers to implement a system like this sooner rather than later. These would be difficult to bot due to the constantly changing tasks and need for high level, well geared players. Skill nodes should not be in them to deter botting as well.

One last idea would be to allow foundry authors to create new bounties that could be voted on by the community and overseen by Strumslinger. Ones rated highly and meeting the Strum Seal of Approval would be added into the official rotation.

I think NWO needs something like this, what do you guys think?

It looks like fun, so that's why it will never be on live server

I like this idea a lot. It would be a great way to help solo players, or those without a ton of time to play earn some extra RAD. It's also a great way to randomize up the day.

What was that quote in the Underdark Blog? Replayable, not repeatable? I think that fits the bill.

Rolling the potential for custom Foundry-created bounty missions makes it that much more awesome.

@strumslinger should take a peak at this.

I've been dipping my toe into a few other games recently and it really has brought home to me just how "rigid" neverwinter has become. Everywhere you look there is potential for introducing some variety into our gaming day but we always seem to end up funnelled into doing the same stuff over and over. Same enemies, same locations. You can almost do them blindfolded.

So, yes. Bounties are a great idea. And there are hundreds of NPCs in the game. Surely some of those must have occasional problems with rats in the basement, unfaithful husbands, missing jewellery, drunkenness, broken swords, kidnappers, blackmailers, bandits and a mysterious and dramatic downturn in the cabbage yield from their allotments. (Surely someone in Neverwinter has a lab that can analyse soil...)

It doesn't all have to be big stuff. Give us some daft little tasks to occupy our daft little minds. Think of all those maps that we blitzed through when we levelled up. Surely we could find a reason to revisit those.

(OT: Zergy - nice to see you wearing your player's hat today. We've missed that.)

The issue is and seems to remain is they regurgitate content and then force it back to it, its tiring to go back to dread ring, we have all been to dread ring a million times and sharandar and wod and iwd.

New releases usually mean new content and while I appreciate some of the aspects of SH, its also tiring to do others of it..

I used to get so exited in other mmos for new release day, here its not usually that meaningful, I mean look at mod 6, they put a barely there at all story in front of massive grind, it competely stopped after the first two quests. Then you just spend lots of time doing 4 quests over and over and over and over and over again, with really no reason to be doing them.

I get you Kelt, and feel the same way. The problem is that the team is small and have limited resources to create the next mod, fix bugs and create a decent player experience. I've found in my time away from the game that these sorts of systems work when properly implemented as they do amount to new things to do, albeit in recycled areas. The real key to them is the reward system and how varied the missions are. That was the main reason behind my suggestion of engaging the foundry community to help with these as many authors have great ideas but trouble getting their ideas out there especially with the near zero rewards for doing foundries. This would hopefully spotlight the community talent while also giving single as well as group/guild players more to do and more to get without overly burdening the already stretched thin dev team.
