Dread Ring 'Choose a lair' quests not awarding Greater Marks on completion

I took my main and alt characters through the weekend 'Choose a lair' quest in DR yesterday and today (Phantasmal Fortress yesterday, Dread Spire today) and did not receive the promised Greater Marks from any of the four completed quests. Has anyone else had this problem ?

We all do because those marks are no longer guaranteed drops since Mod 6 launched. There is only a chance to get either green, blue or purple mark now in the DR chest. Also the marks are also totally random so don't expect to do PF and get a Greater Mark of Power. The Knox tutorial is wrong.

This game has kind of sucked since the introduction of that module. Once in a long while the management team will turn on a weak flashlight to show the game is improving, and then they snuff it out in the next patch.

There are two issues here.

Starting with Mod 6 (? - I think that's when it changed), running the lairs could award you a mark of potency of any color -- green, blue, or purple -- of the type associated with that lair: power from Dread Spire, stability from Death Forge, union from Phantasmal Fortress. So the quality varied, but the type remained constant for a given lair. If you hover over the tooltip for the lair's treasure trove it states that you can get a mark of any quality.

This was actually a good change, because blue marks had very few sources, so it was ok to get the occasional green mark if you were getting blues and purples (and the loot table seems skewed towards blues and purples over greens). It was especially welcome to people like me who had been running DR lairs for months and had stockpiles of purple marks and no blue marks.

However, after some patch, there was an unannounced change/bug where the lairs no longer drop a specific type of mark. The tooltips have not changed, but running PF on Saturday or Sunday no longer guarantees a mark of union of any color.

They need to change this... to "a chance of earning a Greater Mark" or correct it so these things are in the chests. I noticed that they do not drop from the chests on my very first run through a mini-dungeon in the DR... way back in the first week of M6.

I believe that this is why that bag of DR goodies goes straight to our bags instead of needing to be opened. Quite honestly... without them dropping every time... there will be a shortage very soon. Quite honestly... I stopped running those minis in WoD, Shar and DR... since there is very little I can get from them.

In IWD I run Biggrin's once a week to get the K coins. I am working on completing my last campaign.​​

Many thanks for the info. I have actually been consistantly getting the marks I expected up until this weekend, so did not realise there had been a change. It was only the second or third time I had taken my alt into the DR weekend lairs, but this was the firts time the expected marks had not appeared. C'est la vie :-)

They should just give the Greater Marks. They've been cheaping out at every corner. This isn't the game I became addicted to in Mod 5.
