Alright. You changed leadership. this may be liveable. HOWEVER. gold has never been particularly useful in this game, and now we are gonna have more of it than ever before. Could you please do some, any. ANY AT ALL of the following:

Something new to spend gold on: consumables, spell scrolls, citrines, small piece of rp, vouchers for stronghold.

Change a LARGE portion of that ad requirement on all stronghold stuff to GOLD.

sidenote: pegasus seals, please make the gear purchaseble with these donateable to stronghold. That would be awfully nice of you. Some small crumbs would be welcome.

Should just take a small amount of time to set up in game.

edit: just changed title wrote "with" twice :disappointed:

I could get behind making GMOPs and the like gold cost items.

Preservation wards would need to be lowered in cost tremendously though.

It is all about the cash shop...if you sell items in game that are sold for Zen...then it takes away cash for them. Still waiting to see them BoA all RP items and offer them for Zen in the shop. That IMO is probably why this AD fiasco/Change. A few people Buying Zen and then selling for AD. Real Cash for Digital items that can be taken away in a moments notice has always boggled my mind.

Well, the Blood Rubies are basically pointless. But other cash shop items can only be bought via zen. And when you buy zen with AD, you're buying it from someone else who bought it for cash. So the thought "well, they're being denied cash!" is wrong. That's not how the system works.

If I buy a zen item for zen that I bought with AD and sold it on the AH, Cryptic still got paid for that item somewhere down the line.

From a new player perspective: Get rid of coinage. Convert it all to AD (dunno what rate an AD equates to coin-wise).

Can someone in little words explain to me why there exists coinage like copper, silver and gold, as well as AD? It is twice the NPCs (the AD ones look to sell better stuff than that available via coinage. Why, cash grab?) Beyond kits and disenchanting I cannot think off the top of my head what I need coins for. Yet coins are what mobs drop. It's kind of dumb.

Gold is not Zen or AD...the original post mentions this coinage is the reason for my reply above...

They didn't want to make the primary currency farmable.

Which is kind of why the whole leadership army thing was such a fiasco.

I do agree that gold needs to have some kind of material purpose though, yeah. You should be able to buy White Pearls or marks of potency with gold.

Making AD farmable by killing monsters is not part of the dev team's vision. They want to reward time spent playing the game, but they don't want to use the "kill 10,000 boars" model of gameplay.

How is killing NPCs not a part of the game play? Why even have mobs drop coins if what you say is true?

You might want to source your opinions on what the "dev team" thinks.

They can remove Gold all together and change everything to AD but I bet it would be a massive work to do.

Really? I would wager that they would only need to make a decision on what a copper is worth in regard to AD, and then remove the former and replace with the latter. Massive work you say? In what way?

The main currency in actual pen and paper Dungeons & Dragons is copper, silver, gold and platinum (the last of which is not in NWO so far but follows the same exchange rate of 100g = 1p). This currency system is a legacy from the actual D&D world, though astral diamonds are completely invented for this game, as well as most of the dozens and dozens of other currencies you'll have to acquire to advance in NWO.

    incorrect on three levels.

1.) The Platinum to gold rate varies from edition to edition, but is usually 10 gold per platinum, and silver is 10 silver per gold.

2.) You forgot electrum as a currency, though that was omitted from 4th edition.

3.) Speaking of 4th edition, Astral Diamonds were introduced in 4E. In 4E, each astral diamond was worth 50,000 gold.

I believe Traumalane Trade Bars are also another Forgotten Realms item, as trade bars played a prominent role in Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir.

Yeah well I haven't really played on paper since 2nd edition so I guess it figures a lot of that has changed since WotC took over.

I have always found it weird that in NWO the AH in PE has signs up for traumalane bars yet at no point in the game could you ever use any currency in AH besides AD, unless there was something before beta became open that I'm unaware of.

You've never been able to use trade bars on the AH no. Maybe it's just for stylistic purposes? The trade bar merchant is located near the AH guy in the PE after all.

Put it in a pile and look at it, after the halfway point in the story quests that's all it's good for
