Carved bone cup

Is there a purpose for the carved bone cup? I managed to collect a few of these and naturally wrote them off as junk however I noticed when I was on the AH they were being sold for a decent amount of AD's. Searching online I don't see anything to suggest they were anything more than junk...however the current AH prices and the default listing price the AH told me to set them at really had me scratching my head
