Buying Zen - Broken?

litepacklitepack Member Posts: 4 Arc User
I have been trying to buy Zen, canceled, changed rate a few times and even broke up purchase into 3 seperate requests and still no Zen.

When you look at the top Zen purchase requests #1 has been at 4 million @ 500 each for a few days now and the top 10 list doesnt seem to be updating. Is the ability to by Zen disabled or not functioning?

I don't think you understand how the ZAX works. It's confusing at first, so no big deal.

That 4m you see are offers to buy zen, not Zen for sale. When at 500 AD per zen, that's what we call the backlog. Meaning there's a backlog of requests to buy Zen. It takes, very roughly, about 36 hours per million of backlog for your order to be filled.

Post your order, doesn't matter if it's one or 5 orders. Post it and wait... It's all you can do. Don't post under 500 though, if you post 499, all the orders at 500 have to be fill first - and new orders at 500 will be filled first. Basically, it could take weeks or months... Don't post under 500 unless your just speculating...

Oh, also, the orders ARE cycling even if it doesn't seem like it. Transactions are happening, but ppl are posting buy orders at the same rate (or faster than) ppl are selling is all.

So the 4 million is clumilitive of all the orders (why it doesnt seem to be reducing). OK.. thank you.

It is reducing, but as it reduces, new orders are being added.

First in, first out, like @kvet pointed out. People generally say it's about 24 or so hours per million on the backlog, so just put your bid at 500 AD per 1 Zen and wait it out. You'll get it eventually.

Zen Exchange is a standard FIFO.
Once you cancel and reqest your offer again, your offer goes into the end of the queue (as it is a new FIFO offer).
Current average waiting time is about 1 week. And remember not to remove your offer until its done.

Just got my 2.5k ZEN after 4 or 5 days.
ZAX is working fine, you just have to wait.
Btw. 2x RP event is coming, then the exchange might be much quicker...

Yes - 4-5 days to fulfill an order placed at 1Z:500ADs is my experience as well.

Last two requests that went through at 4.X million backlog took about 5.5 days to go through. Its worth noting that Double RP weekends tend to clean out the backlog as the prices for RP items and GMOP's draws alot of zen to ad to clean it out.

... checked the calendar, and there is another 2x RP event not that far away. If they keep these events on a monthly basis, the ZAX might stay around 1 or 2 days waiting max.

Nah what would happen is everyone would become a whale before underdark and nobody would log in and play anymore. They need to come up with more AD sinks. Do a half off Wondrous bazaar weekend or something.

2xRP is an AD sink. You don't just stop applying RP. You need GMoP to continue. A lot of GMoP. Having many "ready to upgrade" does not help you enough.

Hi! this is a good topic. It is not explained. If I want to buy or sell zen - is all I can do post a request? Then who can buy me out and how? In the sell zen tab there are some top listings. How can you chose or find from whom will you buy?

The Zen-AD Exchange is first in-first out -- which means you put in a request for zen (at 500AD per zen if there is any backlog), and all the requests before yours get filled, and then your request gets filled before anyone else who posted after you.

you do not get to pick an offer or price; the exchange automatically fills the next request in line, at the highest price offered.

So make your request and wait. If you get impatient and pull your request, then list again, you will be back at the end of the line. Figure on a day or so per million Zen backlog.

It is far enough explained, but I'll explain FIFO specially for you.
And because it looks like its hard to understand what FIFO is, I'll explain on example.

    Let's imagine, you're a shop assistant — cashier at cashier's check.

There is a queue of clients who wants to check out their products.
All of them are mature and sober. All of them have prepaid cards with enough funds in.

As cashier, you service the First person in queue first.
You charge him for as many as his products are worth.
You can't service any other person than the first one nor you can't skip consumers.

Consumers can leave their queue in any time, but once they left the queue, they need to begin from its end.
It means, they lost their position and needs to wait until all previous people in queue before him are serviced.

Finally, client can pay with many different prepaid cards for one single product.
    I hope it helps. Greetings.
