Class artifacts (The Vault of the Nine quest rewards)

So guys. I, for the longest time, was playing on only one character - Guardian Fighter. Then I left and recently came back. And I've heard about these class artifacts that you get when you have two characters able to access Icewind Dale campaign in order to get the quest for said artifacts. And everywhere on the internet was the guides that you only need to level up the second character to 60 lvl. And so I did.
Now, it seems Cryptic has changed rules regarding campaigns, so you need actually be level 70 to access them in order to obtain class artifact.
So my question is: how mandatory to have these artifacts for an endgame? Because I don't think I will be able to tolerate another "journey" from level 60 to level 70 (mind-numbing grind-fest).

Some of the class artifacts are mind-blowinly good ( DCs sigil for example ), so yeah..it's worth the grind, not for a GF sigil tho

depends on which class you are raising...the Devoted Cleric artifact is one of the best, but levelling a DC to 70 now is a terrible challenge..
that being said, you can try levelling a GWF or CW since they're much easier to level.

Thanks for your answers. Since they're mandatory then I'll better leave the game altogether.

Don't know what you mean by mandatory. You can absolutely play without a sigil. I've been playing about a year and am only now working on an alt. I have no sigil whatsoever--although they are popular.

You don't need to grind (as playing the new content) to reach 70. I played only one character to get into 70. In the meanwhile, my other 7 characters were also on route to go to level 70. They did that by: invocation and leadership. Now, all my characters are level 70.

Sigal is the best of the class artifacts, but none of them are bad per se and having them all open gives you options to stack different stats if you need them.

I have them all open now.

Yeah they are good but they arent so mandatory that you should leave the game altogether.Actually only DCs sigil has good active bonus for PVP(and GFs generally dont need it because our dailys not good as our encounters). You can get the stats they give from other artifacts or gears.

And just wait for 2xExp to grind an alt if you decide to do it fast.

Noooooo, is this how it is now?
I'm on XB1, and we're getting EE in 7 days, and I was really hoping to just be able steal the sigil from my lvl60 DC's and give it to my mains...
    Now I'm sad :(

On the plus side, you no longer need to have boons to get into IWD.

Actually, unless they changed the rules in the last few weeks you don't even need to be 70 to get the Vault of the Nine quest. You'll get the "you're too low level!" alert when you enter Caer Konig, but since you're only running over to the tavern to pick up the quest that won't matter. Then you can run back to Protector's Enclave and spam lfg/zone to get people to help you do the actual quest.

They changed the rules last week. They put an ambiguous sentence in the patch notes and suddenly you can no longer get to any of the "old" 60s zones. Don't know if they intentionally blocked lower level from getting VOT9, but it could be an incentive to buy Boosters. After all, you need 7 (yes, 7!) boosters to go from 60 to 70. I'm sure someone likes Elemental Evil....

Except Sigil of the Hunter, its gawdamn awful. Two of the least-needed stats for HR in Stam Regen and Recovery. I very much regret having leveled the 2 I have past 60. :(

I decided to try to force through it instead of leaving, since there is nothing interesting for me to play till November. I would love to just level my beloved GF and be done with it. But it seems end game PvE is pretty competitive and although you don't really NEED these artifacts, you actually need them. I've got my GF and GWF to 65 lvl and it is painful. I mean it's not hard or particularly long, it's just painfully boring. Doing the same "quests" in the same area over and over again. Of course one needs just 8 of "vigilance tasks" to move "story" forward but that doesn't mean you need less exp to get to next level, you have to grind this XP somehow and the fastest and most efficient way to do this is to do the same vigilance tasks until you get yet another level. And I from what I understand, I have it an easy way because I'm leveling GWF with epic companions and azure enchants.
I mean, sure company needs money (XP boosts) but you cannot extort it from players like that. You have to make them want to pay not to force them. Forcing players to pay works only for casual mobile market. Especially when there are so much competition in the core MMO market. It's f2p you, have nothing but your game itself to convince players to pay. I'm not trying to make them change their minds, I just don't understand the strategy behind all this. It's not as much of a rant as much of a confusion on my side. Why do you make me to grind like that, even for a single character. I mean, come on, it's not even a new zones, it's all reused assets.
I'll try to power through grind to get GWF to 70 and if I will completely loose my patience, I will do as Plasticbat suggested; by leveling GWF with invocations and leadership.
