Above mentioned is a standard, pure tank skill setup.

If you want to give the party more buff from ITF, you can slot Lunging Strike (or any other encounters that give's us temporary DR buff eg. Bull Charge).

The idea is to have both Lunging Strike and Into The Fray available.
You start an encounter with LS and than hit ITF.

LS give's you 50% DR for few secs so for these few first seconds of the encounter you're giving your party a hefty buff to DPS the ugliest guys down.

Into the fray, Knight's Valor are must haves. I like iron warrior for epic runs, if you have enhanced mark, you get to keep mobs hitting you while keeping your resistance up. And you really need steel defense and any daily that casts fast, like fighter's recovery. I don't know the logic of having steel defense active after daily animation, but that seems to be the case, so have quick animation dailies to activate your steel defense.

I don't think any bonus resistance from skills or boons will add up to ITF. From what has been clarified, ITF will only give your resistance from AC and Defense as buff.

Is steel defense a Swordmaster Daily?

No, it's a swordmaster class feature. Everytime you cast a daily you are immune to damage for a couple of seconds.

Hmm...care to link me to where it has been confirmed.

I'm also looking for the reddit thread but I can't find it at the moment. You can also try this out, if you cast LS or BC then ITF you have the same damage as you would if you cast ITF alone.

Thanks, looks like it was confirmed.

A bit disappointed to be honest. I would like to see some of personal skill synergy.

But again, adding temporary DR to the buff that ITF gives now will make it really strong. Maybe this is what a GF need?
It would be even better than a KC set which is a long forgotten tale.

Anyway, thanks for taking your time to find the answer.

    Cheers!

No problem, I used to thing that LS or BC would add to ITF too.

I'm no tanking expert, but this is how I normally set up. I'm a Tactician, Vanguard I think.

    For solo, I run

Class Features - Combat Superiority and Shield Warrior's Wrath
Encounters - Lunging Strike, Anvil of Doom and Frontline Surge (generates lots of AP)
At Wills - Cleave & Threatening Rush
    Dailies - Fighter's Recovery and Villain's Menace

    For Dungeons (No Healer)

Class Features - Enhanced Mark & Shield Talent
Encounters - Lunging Strike (get to the fight first), Enforced Threat & Into the Fray
At Wills - Tide of Iron & Threatening Rush
    Dailies - Fighter's Recovery and Villain's Menace

    For Dungeons (with Healer)
Class Features - Guarded Assualt & Shield Talent
Encounters - Lunging Strike (get to the fight first), Knights Valour & Into the Fray
At Wills - Tide of Iron & Threatening Rush
    Dailies - Fighter's Recovery and Villain's Menace

If I'm having trouble controlling aggro then I might bring Iron Warrior in instead of ITF to help grab aggro and hold it.
