Style of Play: In PVP you play as a buffer and as a node contender; with Into the Fray you boost damage and speed for your entire party, it's very good when you want to overwhelm your opponents in a contested node or speed up your comrades to the next.
In PVE you are the primary party buffer and protector thanks to the encounters Into the Fray and Enforced Threat. You are not supposed to deal damage in this situation but this limit is offsetted by the high party DPS buff. If you are 'over the top' you can risk Knight's Valor instead of Iron Warrior; first and foremost you must stay alive, if you go down your entire party will follow you in a matter of seconds. Also, you aren't supposed to resurrect your allies, your Shield must stay everytime up (except when you need to pull back to start your encounters) and you will notice that your Guard will never go down with the setup written below. While soloing you aren't that slow in dealing damage like an Iron Vanguard would be. Weapon's Master Strike is the power responsible for the majority of your damage.

DPS: Low.

CC
: None to Low (Low in PVP and in PVE solo, None in PVE party).

PVP
: High performance.

Buffs: Very High.

Heroic Feats: Action Surge (5), Strenght Focus (3), Toughness (3), Shielded Resurgence (3), Distracting Shield (1), Armor Specialization (3), Powerful Attack (5)

Protector Feats: Armor of Bahamut (5), Shield Defence (5), Staying Power (5), Unshakable Line (5), Shieldmaster (5), Iron Guard (1)

Tactician: Fight On (5), Daunting Challenge (5), United (5)

Powers (PVE solo): Weapon Master's Strike (4), Lunging Strike (3), Into the Fray (4), Bull Charge (3), Shield Warrior's Wrath (4), Guarded Assault OR Shield Talent (4), Villain's Menace (3/4), Fighter's Recovery (3/4).

Powers (PVE party): Tide of Iron (3), Iron Warrior (low IL) OR Knight's Valor (if very tanky, don't force it) (3/4), Into the Fray (4), Enforced Threat (3), Steel Defence (3), Shield Talent (4), Fighter's Recovery (4).

Powers (PVP): Weapon Master's Strike (4), Lunging Strike (3), Into the Fray (4), Bull Charge (3), Shield Talent (4), Guarded Assault OR Steel Defense (4), Crescendo (3), Supermacy of Steel (3/4).

Advice: Boost STR and CON the same, less DEX. Then you can concentrate on DEX with a Waist Artifact. Put Negation in the Armor Enhancement Slot and Feytouched (PVP) or Terror (PVE) in your Weapon Enhancement Slot. You want to boost only Defence with the best Azures you can find, Deflection doesn't cut it so don't waste points through Boons and Silver enchantments if you can't reach at least 34%.

Comment: The target of this build is to be the cornerstone of your party, you will likely not go down (if your party is badly assorted nothing will prevent you from going down) and you will boost greatly your party DPS.
You will not care at all about Critical Strike, your damage come all from Power and Armor Penetration linked to a good Recovery time, mine Lunging for example recharge in 7 seconds.
A word on the other paths.. I feel Tactician a bit of a waste, any GF will buff with abundance and buffs from Tactician are very small to me.. plus it's a weak tree in PVP. On the other hand Conqueror is a good alternative if you plan to only PVP or run Solo, but in party to me Protector is far stronger and Tactician a bit better than Conqueror.

Enjoy.

Wrathful Warrior - with this feat damage on paanel always show with increased damage, but really it work only with temp HP. We can have temp HP only from Into the Fray, and it shot down very quickly
Armor of Bahamut - 10% from this feat are multiplicative, if you mitigate damage to 40%, with active bahamut it turn to 36%.

IMO take a Crushing Pin, United from tactician and change bahamut to Plate Agility more profitable. United also add 5% to your own mitigation and 5% damage to damage buff from Into the Fray.
