Stronghold GF Gear.

Why do most of the new stronghold gear for GF have reduced Def compared to current gear? Especially the new artifact gear? It's really great, and since it stacks with other players that have this itemm it's clear that you will need it, but why does it have 1k less def than elemental fire?
