Third paragon

I am curious as to rather or not people think they might unleash a third paragon for classes in a few years down the road or so. I know it might not be needed but since we have three specialization trees and two of the paragons kind of enforce two of those trees but it always feels like it is missing one more paragon. Like for instance with with a Dc if you went Righteous it would not make any sense to go AC however with the dots and other aspects of DO it seems to match up great.

There is other such trees that seem to align so well with a paragon but not with any other paragon and some trees that leave you scratching your head as nothing matches up with it so no one really plays it or they HAMSTER together a build just to have fun with that tree. Take for instance the SW everyone says that temp is broken and SB LOOKS like it would be extremely great paragon with it. Yet what if maybe it is not broken and maybe another paragon that is not released could fit it better?

Hey I am just throwing things out here. Just trying to get some kind of thoughtful conversation on the idea of 3 paragons in the future. I am honestly not sure how it would work but to me it would make since.

I would honestly like to see pallies have a DPS paragon where they forgo defense capabilities for damage. I say forgo defensive capability I am not referring to the same craziness we have with GF DPS in PVP where at lower levels they can literally one shot every DPS class and not take any damage either. I am talking about them actually giving up like 45 percent defense in return increase damage by 45 percent or a class feature that would convert xy of defense into power.

Anywho just some ideas shooting around at 1 in the mornin.

I think years down the line is pretty uncertain at this rate.

True NWO may very well cease to exist by that time. Their license contract may end and WOC may refuse a renegotiation. As the day will come when they must decide rather or not this game fits there image or not. They may very well decide it does not. I do not forsee that happening as DDO is still around and kicking. none the less it may happen. Yet it is no reason to stop speculating on what may be. Dreaming what if and what can be done is what we as people and gamers do best.

I'm all for increasing variety in terms of character playstyle. At first glance, it does seem to be fairly complex to introduce a 3rd paragon and balance them with their counterpoints *and* all the other classes. However, I suppose in essence a new paragon path would add two unique class features, encounters, at-wills and dailies each, which in itself might not be too difficult to balance.

As you implied, it may *improve* the balance of certain trees in particular classes - with your example of underperforming SW trees: another paragon path may make those trees more desirable to play.

I only really main a CW and DC, so I'll examine the paragon paths for these classes.

For the CW, we have the MoF and Spell Storm, which to me initially seems to be a distinction between fire and lightning powers; how they play seems to be more a slow burning-type mage, and a burst-damage mage.

Additional suggestions for paragon paths for the CW might be an Air Mage (perhaps with better control/evasion/utility) or an Earth mage (defense, team buffs, lower DPS). The At-will for an Air Mage might be something with added control, and for an Earth mage - added defense perhaps? The Dailies for an Air Mage may be a whirlwind damaging/control effect, or 'fleet-of-foot' i.e. haste, which increases party run and attack speed; and for an Earth mage an Earthquake or Stoneskin effect (all classic D&D spells). *That* would be cool. Hehe.

For a DC, the distinction between the paragon paths are not as clear cut for me. A Divine Oracle seems to be more offensive and DoT based, whereas the Anointed Champion a defensive, team-buffing cleric.

Suggestions for additional Paragon paths for the DC might be a Dark or 'Fallen' cleric, with enemy weakening powers, or perhaps even some evasive powers. Another could be a pure cleric of Light, which may summon Angels to protect and fight which last for a short duration (sorta like the soul puppet) or have pillars of pure light-damaging dailies, or a daily which actually heals for a massive amount. I would love a Light cleric with a massive Healing Daily (say a fountain of life, which gives life for a set period of time, sort of like warding flare). That would also be cool :)
