Anti Bot Leadership Sugestion

With the new gateway changes to stop/slow down bots, there has been a lot of talk about how it will only drive them to do it in game, and probably it is right they will do just that.

I dont see why cryptic just cannot put a "anti spam filter" type thing or a very basic mini game that a palyer can do easily bound to each time you open up profession page so auto scripters cannot access the page (just ONE time each time you open the page initially, not for each task as that would be tedious)

It can be done in a simplistic way so real people can just go into page after a few secs, it can even be done in such a way as to keep it in char with general game play ie : pressing N opens up a page that shows a Doorway that leads you to the factory/room/other area where all you workers toil away when we go off on our adventures. Then on that doorway screen you enter a random generated access code/other anti bot measure (done nicely somehow) to get in and check your worker progress.

I dont know how sofisticated programs are these days but i bet some way like this will be able to stop them altogether.

(if it works maybe reinstate gateway leadership with a similar thing so REAL people can use what is/was a great way to keep things ticking over while away from Pc)

it has been suggested before and the some players will complain that it will increase the time they spend on doing leadership and that it will not really lessen the amount of bots in-game since they have infinite time etc.

I hope cryptic will still do some anti-bot adjustments in the in-game leadership though.

Are we sure that bots aren't actually welcome? Are we sure that the black market isn't controlled by the same devs? 'Take from the right hand and then take from the left one'.
Any measure taken to 'stop' (haha) bots affect directly players and not those in the 'know'. I suggest to stop talking about bots because it could easily be 'fried air'. Moreover, after the Gateway nerf, inflaction is exactly the same, items cost the same. I haven't see a difference, so 'in the long run' may well mean 'enough time to forget about this matter'.
At least Macchiavelli is still remembered. :)

dev's control the black market? conspiracy theorist much?

i believe we'd feel the gateway nerf's effects in a few (2 or 3?) months after the AD stocks of the playerbase dries up after a few AD sink events, not immediately.

I honestly think that although the legit players were hit by the gateway nerf, the bots got hit hard too.

Misfits it can be anything you know. There are many ways to deal with bots without affecting players, bans be the first but there are much more. If they aren't in place I think it's useless to waste our time talking about bots.

adding GMs who are able to ban players was brought up before, but some players (again) were against it because they fear that the GMs would ban legit players too, and that asking for help from support wont do any good since they claim that cryptic will side with the GMs.

Anyways, whatever anti-bot action will be implemented, it seems that some players think it would always hurt legit players more than bots.

Edit: it seems that some players would also think that it would ONLY hit legit players while bots wouldn't be in any way affected

It's not as far fetched as you might think. I used to mod for a game where several GMs were actually involved with the gold sellers. This, in the end basically caused the downfall of the game and almost the entire publishing company. But I would never go as far as saying an entire publishing company would be corrupted. Nor do I believe it to be the case with Cryptic/PWE. PWE has several games of their own that were really well designed to keep bots out. And it worked. If they really wanted the bots, they would not have done so.

GMs, yes, its possible, but i dont think even a game's developers would take part in it.
