Quick Question. I want to refit an iounstone and wondered, is it usefull for them to slot bonding runestones and if yes, is more than one needed to keep up the their special ability?

I personally do not see ioun stone needs bonding runestone unless you want its basic stat (I believe it is power).

AFAIK the Iounstone has no "Power" - i.e. attack - that causes the Bonding's buff "Companion's Gift" to proc. So you will get the high buff to POW or DEF but nothing else.

Which of course makes us ask the question of why the Ioun Stone of Allure comes with a Lesser Bonding Runestone.

    Not that I'm complaining though.

It is just the companion comes with a bonding runestone.

The effecvt does not proc, but it has a higher power stat, than the runestones, so if you want to stack power, they are the way to go.
